I don't, while it would be nice to purchase a game that is absolutely finished. Allowing Early-access and updates after the release means the devs don't need to invest that much into a game. Now, I don't know funcom that well, but lowering the investment price means more devs can make a game they strive to make. And like paintings, you can only discover truly good artist if a lot of them have the money to make a painting.

AAA games are money grabs They have money therefore they can release games fully. There are lots of people with great potential to create better games less influenced by just money or liberal media limitations or implementations not to offend people. They just do not have the resources to create them and need the support of early access and being paid throughout development to improve and continue the construction of the game.

I really think you could have expanded on the depth the "exploring the world" concept gives. This game has world bosses, dungeons, lorestones, actual characters, organic questing, hidden recipe's for weapons and armor around the world you find out on your own. That "exploration" bit deserves a bit more than a one liner.

I say it deserves a second visit after the 18Gb update they released a couple weeks ago. Before that it was meh, but now they've polished some stuff off and really overhauled the combat so it's much, much better. I've been playing it quite a lot since that update and I'd recommend it for any survival enthusiasts

As a person who has been playing a lot of survival games like thousands of hours in ark, reign of kings, pretty much any survival you can think of. this game is really good for 2 reason. 1: the new combat system isn't as bad as he says it is it works off a combo system were you have 4 light attacks and 4 heavy attacks each attack could cause a effect and so the attacks can be stringed together to get the effect you want for your weapons. some attacks close gaps some attacks apply bleed some attacks apply slowing effects ect. its up to you to combo the attack combos to get the dissired effect you want. i would go on to explain what they do but that will take to long. 2: The building, the building in this game is by far the best building you will see or play with in a survival game, if you want to build in a tree you can do it, if you want to build on the side of the mountain you can do it. the possibilities are latterly endless i have never found a better building system in a survival game. As i side not and i do not mean to offend but you guys really half-assed the reivew of this game i will admit you did justice about the pve material but not mention what the combat or how the building is, which are the best thing about the game was just terrible. especially the combat like really you missed it by miles. i bet it was only jenky to you cause you didn't mix the combos or use all the weapons and try out there different combo strings

Retro Gamer Ark is way worse in that regard. Alpha tribes own servers and will not even let you build on them. You spawn in and they either jail you or wait for you to build up just to wipe you. Cross server raiding is ridiculously overpowered. The game is completely unplayable unless you have a large multi server tribe with the servers locked down. The community is cancer.

This is where illegal downloads save my money. It's faster than buying and expecting a refund later. It happened to me with 7 Days to Die. I played even the alpha 1.0 but two years later the full release was awful. FPS drops in a game that looks at its best like GTA4. Sometimes you want to enjoy the game because there's something particular about it but it's a huge dissapointment when it turns to be non-playable

I'm liking the game so far. Love exploring and finding interesting locations and the crafting isn't overly complicated like some survival games tend to be. My only gripe so far is that I wish there were boats or some way to traverse the world a bit easier other than walking. Its a big map and with no fast travel, it can be annoying sometimes when you want to really go far in your exploration.

man.. I have to admit having Conan since first day in E.A., it used to be SOO rough, the fighting was super odd, and was unable to explore much before needing better gear or more stats to help get through any area.. NOW, I'm LOVING Conan, came back after almost half a year away, major problems have been fixed, combat is revamped and the map size is doubled, and it seams 'easier' to finally make your way out of the 'noob area' down south, and with the new 'biomes' added I have SOOO much to do and I love it all. I'm proud of Funcom pretty much 'coming through' on this one, [still missing some features but at least they are out of E.A.] one thing Funcom is good at is continued content development even deep into the lifecycle of their games. {Anarchy Online player nostalgia}

so first off, i really like Survival games, i have 920+ hours Rust, bought Ark and barley played it because it was just not fun for me, but yesterday i bought Conan in the Steam sale for 20 bucks and its a great fun game imo, in the 7 hours i played i haven't found alot of bugs (none of wich where gamebreaking for me) the gameplay is super fun and new/refreshing for me after playing so much Rust and the Map is giant, looks awesome and has PVE stuff to do everywhere! finally something to do besides PVP like it is in Rust. so for Rust/Ark player i can HIGHLY recommend Conan exiles, it really is a fun and refreshing experience after playing those games.

If your on console and are for whatever reason, dashboarding continuously when you join a multiplayer session, attempt to make a single player offline game, go into the difficulty settings and then back out. This fixes the issue all the time but must be done if you want to play, for me currently it take seconds and is more than worth it.

I have been playing for awhile, a few months before release, and I have loved my time with this game. The thrall system works exactly as planned, the religions are all pretty cool and add a little spice to the gameplay, the enemy design is awesome tho sometimes the combat may feel kinda slow, the variety of awesome shit you can just find out in the world is awesome from bosses to temples that give unique pieces of armor and weapons, the bosses that drop keys for chests when you hit level 60, the sandstorm feature is cool, they definitely fixed the heat bug which is awesome, the new biome they added seems cool, the design of most parts of the game is fantastic, the journey system which acts as a tutorial and helps you level is good, the climbing is an AWESOME feature to have and works great. I will admit this game has issues tho, the frame drops, the times combat is kinda meh, the grind it takes to get some stuff is rough (though it is a survival game), and the hyper armor on some enemies is crazy, the level system can mess you up a bit if you don't know what you're doing, the amount of time between levels can start to feel grindy, and apparently server crashes are a big problem on xbox but I've played solo as a start just to make sure I know what I'm doing. Overall the game has seen a LOT of improvements from early access and more are soon to come, especially since we should get a new biome down the line to add to this already massive map. Would recommend with slight precaution, not sure if the trial I still out like it was in early access but if it is go for it and if you like it go for it if you don't well good luck finding a different game. Personally would give it a 8.4/10

Dropping in after recently purchasing this game. For some reason it engages me more than ark ever did. The building system is amazing, and the community is pretty awesome too. It's still getting the right attention and improvement. If anybody is thinking about getting id say it's worth a try. (PC player btw)

The only people who will hate this game are the ones who wanted it to be F2P, and not cost them a cent to buy and play. I thought your Early Access (EA) review was wrong, and now so is your Full Release. The Patch back on 18 April makes all the game mechanics new and different. The world seems different and unknown to most of the EA players. Bugs? Try Lag, solely due to the FCCs reversal of net neutrality regulations. Two years ago I could watch KZbin any time of day with out lag, to day I can't. In the last two years my download speed has doubled, but my lag has tripled. When I have lag I have bugs, no lag no bugs.

I've heard that this game is now miles beyond where it started. Is this worth it now? I'm not super into Conan lore, but I always found the world somewhat interesting as a child. Don't really care about it being a "survival game", just looking for something fun and different to play.

Yes I'd recommend it, I was in a similar boat and downloaded it again. They fixed a lot of things and added a ton more stuff, even fixed combat, looting, etc. I think it's pretty damn good now.

I have been playing on PC and haven't really encountered many bugs, runs way better than any other survival game around right now in my opinion and I don't really agree with the combat criticism, to be honest this has by far the best melee combat system of any survival game I have ever seen easy.

So I bought this mid last week. I've put about 40 hours in thus far in a 4 man clan, and the game has been amazing. As someone that played ark a lot, this is different enough to be a fun experience. The map feels so much larger, and the capability of capturing thralls adds a lot of dynamics to how you build bases. I'm almost level 40, and haven't had this much fun with a game in a long time.

Conan Exiles is the first survival game of this type that I played. I was attracted to rust or ark or other, but this game... This bastard got me hooked like crazy. I am in 19 hours, and I have an incredible amount of stuff to discover/craft and I feel like I can't get enough of it. For the price, this is a great game. Impressive map, great visuals, great and intuitive building and crafting.

I disagree with his opinion on combat I feel the fighting styles is unique and very clean and smooth there is nothing more satisfying than doing a back flip after you poison you enemy and watch him cripple at your feet.

Tell the server admins to reset the server then, cache issue probably. I've never had mobs not fight back, humans are lethal in this game as the monsters and animals have bigger more telegraphed moves. It's also not repetitive, just as skyrims combat didnt get repetitive despite being the same 2 attacks per weapon for what, 7 years? The only people shittalking this game lacks perspective.

NoBuddy89 too be fair skyrim had mods on pc that spiced up the combat quite a bit. Lol however, I do agree that the combat is fun despite its repetitiveness. I feel like these people are bored because they lack imagination. I easily make the combat fun by taking different approaches to the fight or even challenging myself with multiple enemies.

I love that you can change server options to make it more of an ARPG where food and thirst have little impact on game play, it's actually really fun if you set it up to whatever your taste is. RPG, Survival, Hardcore, Maybe even set it up as souls game, that's what drags me back to Conan Exiles.

I agree that it was harsh for PC in the beginning and a lot of bugs but now its completely awesome. We have played this over and over and still do and never get bored with it. The sand storm is my favorite part of the game, watching it roll in and being like... oh shit.. TAKE COVER. Very fun game with friends.

I highly disagree with you this game is far better and much different than it was when it was first released. And yea maybe the graphics are not the most epic, the most stunning thing you have ever seen but they are good and the game is very enjoyable. As for falling through the world and all those other issues you have talked about. I haven't had any on pc. Now I will agree that AI can be a bit janky at times but I mean what game these days doesn't have janky AI. If you are looking for a break from Ark this is your game. You will not regret buying it. If I had to compare which game felt less like early access Conan or Ark I would say Conan. Ark has been released for some time not and still has glaring bugs that it has had back when it was in EA.

The game is filled with Lore and explorable content from the classic Conan novels and even from the movies. Any Conan fan will love this. Plus at the time of release (today) the game map has four biomes and is absolutely huge - it seems (and might be) bigger than Skyrim.

What version are you playing? (I can assume since you have the new HUD) A lot of your criticism around 05:00 was true until update 33, but aside from some glitches (and some of them *are* annoying), I can't confirm your experience in multiplayer on PC. Your still biased (sorry, not sorry) review gives a distorted impression of the current version.

Hey Jake, I feel like you pulled this up too soon. Have you watched the recent devstreams? This is only patch 1.0, they still talk about adding better means of travel and have admitted that the combat system is far from finished. They are working on fixes as well, like all games of this type they all release with major bugs

Are the issues you're having just on PS4? I play on Xbox X and haven't had any of those issues. I also rent a G-portal server and it's been wonderful! Ark has been out for a long time now and has had more bugs on my Nitrado than this game has had for me.

Most survival games look like ass on console, still plays well for the most part and is enjoyable. So satisfying when you get your base built and you post your guards around the area with archers on the walls. The Purge which makes animals and creatures in the biome which you're in attack your base (chooses a base at random if you have multiple), gives meaning for you to have those thralls in the first place. The only real gripe I have with the game is they didn't bring in mounts or magic, and you can only have 1 thrall follow you as a guard or even as an extra bagpack. There's also some lore and story to follow if you're interested in that sort of thing. Definitely isn't story driven or anything, but it adds something extra along with the whole survival theme.

Been playing it early access for several months and I love it. There are some nasty bugs from time to time, but for me nothing game-breaking has occured. It's a survival game mostly in the early character levels, from then on it's build, conquer and explore, because it gets easier and easier to get food and water as you level up and get new crafting options.
