how did you pick up the Foal in the first place. I have my Stable built, but I run into the Foal and it's an obstacle. It doesn't go into my inventory.

Pick up all baby animals like any other resource,they are heavy at 50 lbs,you pick it up first then place it in stables

It seems there was a somewhat recent nerf to foals around newbie river (not sure exactly when, I just started playing too). For foal locations, you'll need to venture farther out. I found a couple in the lower left corner of K6. It's a long swim, but it's pretty safe to get to, even at low level. Safest to just swim all the way.
