One of my favorite podcasts (Behind the Bastards) does this often enough that it's become part of the show that Robert Evans will just let out an atonal shriek to start the episode because he has no other ideas on the spot.

Ricky Gervais's old radio show with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington was also known for doing that very thing. The funniest bits were when they complained about how awful the show was.

One of the things that cracks me up about Conan is, here Sona starts to mock him about not being professional after 30 years in broadcasting and rather than defend himself he actually one ups her and mocks himself further. LOL.

That's one of the reasons, if not the main reason, why he's stayed popular for so long. He never attacks ANYONE, and if anyone attacks him, he judo's that into another joke. Conan is the least edgy, dangerous or defensive comedian out there, except to himself.

The fact that Samara Joy actually dropped a brilliant little video of *actual* "verbal jazz" at the same time as this, just made me chuckle out loud. Also, the fact that Conan loves rockabilly and doesn't love jazz is clearly his major character fault.

I love these podcast videos. As a person who plays jazz, I'd like to point out that people who mock jazz generally don't understand how it works. It requires a knowledge of the underlying chord progression and the ability to see how the improvised melody contrasts with the standard melody, in relation to the chords. It's magic once you get it, but people tend to do the cartoonish scatting when they don't understand it.

Jaco Pastorius could play killer walking bass lines. Oscar Pistorius can't walk without prosthetics but sure is a killer. They're practically the same person, so I can see how Sona mixed them up.

I'm a child of third-shift factory workers and I loved Letterman and when you emerged on the scene, I was hooked. Like, for life. I have a pretty razor-sharp wit, myself, and I owe it all to you. Sona: Goddess. You are an inspiration for us all. I'm totally gonna buy your book, lol. When I make it to Prairie Lights. Gourley: You've grown on me like a fungus under a warped toenail and I love a foot infection :3 You are like the cognac in a hot toddy. All that aside, DO NOT DISS JAZZ, MAN!!! I'm talking to you lord-of-our-comic-savior, Conan. Yeah, to each their own, etc, but hating on jazz is kinda ignorant, y'know. Like flat-earthing. Give it a shot, bro.
