Basil Poledouris was a genius. The world lost a greatly skilled talent when he died in 2006. RIP, Maestro!

Whenever I hear this fanfare, I automatically hear the Star Wars theme in my head afterwards.

Every time I have seen it, at least on video and DVD, it has had the MCA/Universal Pictures fanfare, not the 20th Century Fox. Now if it were Star Wars...:-)

@@windk100 _"Every time I have seen it, at least on video and DVD, it has had the MCA/Universal Pictures fanfare, not the 20th Century Fox. Now if it were Star Wars."_ That's because Universal didn't make the first Conan movie. Dino De Laurentiis produced it independently. Universal had distribution rights for North America, including the United States. 20th Century Fox had distribution rights for the rest of the world. The soundtrack release that was ripped for this KZbin playlist was likely for Europe, so the inclusion of the Fox fanfare makes sense in that context.

It not really part of the soundtrack for obvious reasons 1. they did distribute the film outside the United States instead of Universal and the Fox logo on the non-US versions are silent 2. the Fox fanfare is never included with film soundtracks as it appears on a number of films and is part of the logo not the film itself 3. This version of the fanfare was conducted in 1998 the film was released in 1982 so at the time Lionel Newman's conduction of the fanfare would've been used

For those confused about the 20th Century Fox fanfare, the first Conan movie was produced independently by Dino De Laurentiis of DEG and DDLC fame. Universal made a deal for North American distribution rights while Fox got the same kind of rights for the rest of the world. This soundtrack release may have been for a release outside of North America, where people would have remembered the Fox fanfare preceding the movie.

So that means Disney has the international rights to this movie?
@Watcher3223 Жыл бұрын
@@ScratGaming-h3d Possibly, but I can't say for sure. Disney may still own international distribution rights through their ownership of 20th Century Studios, but the film itself is most probably owned by the De Laurentiis Company.
@ScratGaming-h3d Жыл бұрын
@@Watcher3223 now I'm scared that future international releases of this movie on home video are gonna open with the Disney logo, I don't want Disney to own the international rights to such a violent film, sure they own Alien and Predator, but this film is a bit more violent then those two, I can't respect Disney with this move.
@Watcher3223 Жыл бұрын
@@ScratGaming-h3d Chances are Disney won't use their own branding on that film specifically because of the facts about "Conan." They will likely continue to use the 20th Century-Fox branding because that's the history of the film.
