At least 14 French horns were used in the opening music. Also, this was the last major Hollywood movie to be recorded in mono. Rafaela de Laurentiis, producer Dino's daughter, balked at the extra money for it to be recorded in stereo. From then on, about every movie made was recorded in stereo.

Basil Poledouris made this movie as much as anything else with the music - he was one of the great and underrate composers of the 80s and 90s. More to educate than criticize - iron and steel swords were never poured into molds like that - that was exclusive to bronze weapons - back then they started out with iron ore, hammering it into a billet, with the folding process being to hammer out the impurities and get carbon into it from the forge to turn it into steel, thus eventually turning the raw iron ore into the steel which could then be made into the weapon. This was all done by experience as they had no real way to judge just how much carbon was in the steel, meaning that quality was all over the place with steel that had too high and low a carbon content, hence the reason why even steel weapons were prone to breaking and shattering back then. LOL, gotta do a Forged in Fire moment - Conan's dad did an uneven quench on that sword - that's why it shatters later in the movie.
@stereoplayers4 ай бұрын
But, then again, it was probably done 'for dramatic purposes'; you see the sword being made, its birth.
