Robert E. Howard was such a talent. How tragic he took his own life leaving us wanting more of his stories.

This 'radio drama' really brings out Howard's wonderful way with words. The adjectives!

Howard was a master of the moment. In his words he captures the reader in his ever present moment, filling his world with action, and detail. The reader is caught up, and taken where Robert E Howard leads. My favorite author, Thanks for posting this.

The narrator is terrific - he puts violent emotion into the words.

I bought this LP, which had this on one side and The Tower of the Elephant on the other back in the late 70's. I thought it was pretty keen. It the closest thing to a Conan movie that they had at the time. Both audio tales have stand the test of time.

5 stars. Thanks to the people responsible. Great delivery of Howard's text without making it sound hackneyed and corny.

From what I can gather, this is part of a test for a Conan the Barbarian radio show that was pitched to NPR in the mid-'80s but never picked up.

This sounds like the actor who played Jack Flanders. :( He passed away not long ago. He had incredible talent.

Kind of fun. Quite different from the text I had in hand (most especially the tense switched from past to present), but still fairly easy to follow and quite enjoyable.

I love this story because it's out in the cold and besides male warriors , he's also tricked by a females beauty . She wasn't laughing once Conan slays the giants though .

There was an episode on Science Fiction Theater (c. 1955) about an arctic explorer lost in the frozen tundra who encounters a alien but human-looking girl dressed in thin gossamer. Anybody know what this episode was?

Way better than Todd McLaren's reading on the official Audible version.

I'd love to see this subbed for that one, it's so far superior. It makes Todd Mclaren's reading sound a kindergartner trying to recite there abc's.
