The Destroyer was an 'ok' film. I loved Conan the Barbarian alot more. For me it was alot more powerful. This one was too comical for my taste.

There's a reason this film killed the proposed 10 movie franchise. The studio wanted it PG to get kids involved 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Still, if this film hadn't failed, arnie would never have been released from the 10 film contract to make terminator, and begin his stellar career.

His "Sidekick", Malak, pretty much ruined a lot of this movie. I have nothing against Tracey Walter, the Man who played Malak, but his Character was just about totally unnecessary. He jumped to conclusions that he shouldn't have, and he got things wrong, more times than not.

I saw Conan the Barbarian & Conan the Destroyer 3x in the Theater when they were originally released & also purchased both films later on VHS. However ...on VHS I noticed the Conan & Togra fight scene in Destroyer had been edited to remove Togra's vastly superior Sword display after they both fell off their horses & continued fighting. I've never read anything regarding this "Edit" nor have watched any Arnold or Sven-Ole Thorsen interview that mentions it either. Regardless, as said ...Sven-Ole Thorsen Sword skills really made Arnold look bad which I'm sure is the reason the "Edit" was done for Home media release.

I don't get why the 2nd movie was so badly received. I get it there are some comic kid like elements in it. But overall the film and it's plot were good. It was simple and straight forward just like the first one. A really enjoyable movie.

No comparison to Conan the Barbarian. How do you change sidekicks from Subotai to comic relief loser? Watered it down from R to PG 13 to appeal to a larger audience just like Road Warrior to MMBT. I'll grant you the horn artifact and reawakening the demigod are cool pursuits, and Wilt makes a worthy villain. But the visceral, merciless element is missing that defines the setting. Watch the raid on Conan's village, the pit fighting sequence, the crucifixion, the battle of the mounds from CTB. I rest my case.
