When all that happened, whatever general respect most people had about the Bush Administration completely went out the window and their reputations have never recovered. Until 2003, 2004, the worst thing people called the Bush Administration were morons and playing fast and loose with our civil liberties. Slightly better than war criminals.

It is more prevalent in the 18-24 year olds which have grown up in society and 24/7 news cycles that tell them they are oppressed and are due reparations from the “rich”. The screams for socialism are getting louder and louder within the Democratic Party. Their constituents burn, loot, and murder without consequence, and the liberal media sweeps it under the rug. The far left is destroying this country, and it is fast coming to a head. I’m not a conspiracists, but it is happening. How any decent Democrat doesn’t call it out for what it is, is disgusting. If my party leaders shouted rhetoric like that, I would be the first to stand up against them. I am a Conservative, and I’ve always been a Conservative. I loved watching the West Wing, it was smart television. Though I disagreed with the vast majority of the ideological points of view. What I find funny is that people will come to these clips and rave about President Bartlett as a true leader. There isn’t a single person in the Democratic Party that remotely embodies Aaron Sorkin’s vision of a President. It’s actually rather amusing to hear people comment as though this is what the current Democratic Party stands for, it’s nowhere close. If there ever were a candidate within the Democratic Party that carried a remote resemblance to Jed Bartlett, I might for that person. But there is not, outside of Tulsi Gabbard. Listen to how the left vilifies that woman, yet she most resembles what a Traditional Democrat used to mean. So you want to have a discussion, you can start by calling out what your party has actually become and not your idea of what it once was.

A number of my nieces and nephews, who are in their 30's now, originally supported Bernie Sanders. About 93 percent of the recent riots were peaceful. I checked. Personally, I am what I would call an independent/skeptical Democrat. Whenever "wonderful" ideas are proposed, I ask first, who asked for this? Secondly, I ask how much will it cost and where are we going to get the money? Our wages have been flat since 2000 and both parties are responsible for that. We now have huge debt, partly due to Trump's tax bill when he first took office, and of course, the pandemic is going to mess with our economy for quite a while. We do certainly need serious reform of our whole election process. Gee, I had no idea making a comment about a good TV show would unleash all of this! I know there are still a number of really thoughtful and caring conservatives and I enjoy reading of their ideas and discussing options with them. It is certainly going to be an interesting time here in the U.S. for the next several years and I hope we can start listening to each other.
