My father had 2 belts in his adult lifetime: both were Hank's. One he bought in 1971 and he wore it until 1999 (the only reason he bought the 2nd one was after his heart transplant he went from 6'5" and 180lbs to 230lbs). Dad carried every day. Usually a S&W 5906 or a 29-2 with a 4" barrel (both f*ckin heavy guns). He passed in 2016 from cancer. Both belts are still very sturdy. Seeing how long they both lasted carrying heavy full size firearms for decades led me to buy 2 belts from them as I carry both of his handguns that I inherited as well as several Glock's and a 1911 5". I use the steel core belt for OWB heavy gun carry, and a crazy horse leather jean belt for IWB carry of my smaller frame firearms. Made in USA was very important to me as well.

Thank you for sharing. It’s great to hear about such quality products. It’s fantastic you have your dad’s guns. I was supposed to have my dad’s S&W model 19 he carried as a police officer in the 1970s. But it was stolen and gone forever I am afraid. I am glad you have something to remind you of your dad.

Solid info. I’m going for the Hank. About the cost of a hour of ammo time at the range. 😊

My wife likes to remind me that she bought me my first black Kore belt little over 3 christmases ago and I wear it every day I have pant loops. It is still working perfectly and it is pretty much all i wear these days even if I don't carry a firearm that day. She said she's going to get me another one in brown this year for my birthday. That is all I want actually.

My Hanks is nice belt but when you have the weight of a holstered firearm riding on your hip fit is even more important. My holster must be snug to my waist and it is hard to achieve with Hanks. Kore holds my rig perfectly solid even if my waist expands 1/2" after lunch, Hanks Does not. Kore quality and support is just was good for less $$.

They're both great belts it's hard to beat the ratchet belt though

Yea Kore belts are not made in U.S. (some of us are working on that) but when it comes down to it, if your like me, the ability to adjust the tension is great. Try that with a regular belt it’s impossible. With a standard belt you get what you get. No matter what, stay safe, God bless….

Kore now makes ONE belt ‘made in the USA’🙄. They only did that to appease people for sales. Still would not buy it.

I got a paranoid concern, maybe any paramedics can answer: are belts made of something besides leather capable of being cut in an emergency by first responders? Are there shears they carry that can cut like butter through a steel core or synthetic material? It's a one in a million chance, but I think I'm more likely to get in a bad wreck than have someone cut my belt to snatch my concealed pistol.
@dangreen28247 ай бұрын
I’m not sure why a paramedic couldn’t just press the tab on the buckle and release the belt in an emergency. But if that wasn’t possible for some reason the Kore Belt is easily cut by scissors. That’s how you size it. I can’t speak to other belts I don’t have experience with.

I own kore, hanks, 5.11, cobra and few others that i have collected over the years. I wear kore most days cause I like to adjust the size on the move with my glock19 owb rig. I dont really care if my belt is made in the usa. Neither is my computer, phone and most clothes.

Thank you. Where a belt or anything else is made doesn’t matter to everyone. I just like to pass along the information in case it does to someone who watched.

@@spaceman8839; okay skippy; where was your phone made? How about your TV’s? Clothes? I would bet my life that items in your home are 80% made in China or somewhere else, other than USA. Not coming down on you, but its not easy finding USA-made products.
@henrycampbell1684 Жыл бұрын
The truth of the matter is both belt companies have parts made in China. I called each to ask and get the truth. Surprisingly most of Hanks metal buckles are in fact made in china. I think they should disclose that. Kore belts are mostly made in China but their multicam belt webbing and a few other components are made in USA.

It is not easy to find everything you need made in America I’m afraid. We don’t have manufacturing facilities or infrastructure for much of that to happen. I am happy companies like Hank’s do as much as they do in the U.S. because it is so rare.

Thank you, that is good to know.

Yeah, they do. However, I believe its one of those “made in America with material sourced outside the US”. So it's not 100% made in America. They only did that to appease people who want “made in the USA”.
@maximoleeman6155 Жыл бұрын
Dan betcha didn't know but some of Hanks buckles are made in CHINA. Yes their belts are made in the USA, but not all their buckles.
@dangreen2824 Жыл бұрын
No I didn’t know that. But when most belts are made entirely overseas I still think Hank’s makes a quality belt.
@ThePriceIsRising5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, its getting harder and harder for companies to source materials IN the USA. They probably could find a buckle manufacturer, but Im positive they cost more. Another unfortunate thing is Hanks was probably thinking of the lower cost to pass onto consumers.
@podmonkey2501 Жыл бұрын
I have owned several Kore belts and for me they didn't hold up. The buckle would eventually pull off, I have to eventually cut the end even after it frayed too much to hold the buckle and after a year would become too short to fit. The stffener would eventually fracture into segments too. I just got a Hanks Belt and I also like the Blue Alpha belts for a web type belt. Blue Alpha is American made and uses a velcro for fit adjustment.

Interesting. I have been wearing my Kore belt almost daily for over a year and it it still looks brand new.

@@dangreen2824 I hear that a lot from satisfied Kore owners. All I can figure is that I must cinch my belts tighter than most.

Sorry, sounds like you had a defective buckle. Back in 2019 we UPGRADED all our buckles to include a teeth clamp and 2 set screws to secure the belt to the buckle. Since that time we've NEVER heard about any belts pulling out. We also added our new Power-Core center and same thing - NEVER had one fracture or break, EVER. So for those looking for a totally secure, supportive, high quality gun belt - we make one of the best. Thanks.
