Tonebox - System Error
During the Vietnam war, General Van Fleet (then retired) praised the increase of the use of air power in warfare as "concentrated shock". Throughout the war, the US air force would fly 5.25 million sorties over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, for loss of 2,251 aircraft, while the amount of lives they saved through timely close air support and through S&R and CASEVAC cannot be calculated, the proliferation of mass aerial bombardment as a means to prevent infantry meeting other infantry led to much more destruction and unfortunately, more civilian casualties.
Finally a new Vietnam video after at least 3 years, enjoy!

Real tragedy is that it all could’ve been avoided if the US had actually listened to the Vietnamese back in the 20’s. Ho chi-min was a big fan of the US style democracy and wanted to model an independent Vietnam in its image. He went to the negotiations at Versailles to ask the US to support its independence from the French, the US said no, and he got disillusioned and turned to communism instead.

something curious and iconic of the Vietnam War, are those recordings where an explosion raises a large white dome, this happened with great frequency since Vietnam is an extremely humid country and well that white dome is basically the condensation of that humidity and water in fractions of a second by the energy released by the shock wave, and people often confuse this with the shock wave or shock wave, but not the shock wave is ahead of the small white cloud. As always great video Majorsamm !!

Majorsam your choice of music to set the mood is awesome. The scenes are deliberately ordered to syncronize with the music flow. The ending though, was superb. I thought we were hitting the climax then the music stopped abruptly and screen turns black. That was an ultimate punchline lol. I thought it was going to be the usual fade to black, really caught me by surprise. On the side note, the mood feels similar to Koyanisqatsi, an underrated masterpiece

*"For it seems now more certain than ever that the bloody experience of Vietnam is to end in a stalemate. This summer's almost certain standoff will either end in real give-and-take negotiations or terrible escalation; and for every means we have to escalate, the enemy can match us, and that applies to invasion of the North, the use of nuclear weapons, or the mere commitment of one hundred, or two hundred, or three hundred thousand more American troops to the battle. And with each escalation, the world comes closer to the brink of cosmic disaster."* - Walter Cronkite in the aftermath of the Tet Offensive.

MajorSamm. To start off. Big fan. I understand conflict much better now because of your help. May you consider a video with the song Runaround- by Jan Hammer- he was the music writer for Miami Vice and think it would be very fitting. One thing that crosses my mind when I watch your videos and see someone’s face. I think what if that was me, my friends, family member. Etc. There was no music, it wasn’t done within three minutes. But to see the actions of the young in their own time. Doing things that have rippled the effects. With a liveliness to make me feel I can be one of them. In their time.

I think Vietnam was sorta the middle ground of aircraft technology and its usage in warfare. A combination of propeller driven aircraft, to then jets and more advanced helicopters. While we still use some propeller driven aircraft, Vietnam I believe was the last war where they were used extensively, throughout most of the conflict. Correct if I’m wrong in the comment section though. Have a good day👍.

Another amazing video from one of my favourite channels. You are clearly really improving with your editing and it shows. I cannot wait to see what else you will achieve in the future.

I’ve been watching your videos for half a year, I truly don’t know how you’re able to match a good/perfect song for every video.. however what I love is the educational purposes from the comments of your community and the videos themselves. I know this either over said or just another comment in a sea of discussions but this is a great channel

MajorSamm i'm totally in love with your videos and i really enjoy this one as preavious ones. I Always check your description. This one, in my very humbly fan opinion, could also spent a word about the many civilian victims of the u.s. airpower under huge bombing, desfoliating, etc. I dont want to start an argument, please keep going on with your job.

Thanks a lot man, you made a good point, I was struggling to think of a description for this video and I rushed it a little but I added a bit about the side effects now.

@@MajorSamm you're the best! I love how we could feel those old days through your editing work, so i made that point only to remember how bad was the war, in an historical view.

Vietnam had a really good and wide-spreading air defense forces at that time, from Mosin and outdated MG of guerilla to SAM and MiG of regular force. If we hadn't , I'm not sure about the victory, because the US air power is too great.
