I really appreciate seeing your layout on the spread sheet. I'd lo see more examples of that. I'm having a hard time figuring out a way to do that with my harnesses.

I'm learning HPA Motorsport wiring thanks to HPA anniversary pricing off. First I will make à Motorsport harness for my personnal drift car to train myself. The course is great, Zac is a real boss in wiring, sharing every precious tips to help us to be successful even at first attempt

Sometimes I cant help but think the main advantages of these looms is to fill the wallet of the manufacturer. Certainly appreciate the level of detail that goes into it, I could just never justify the cost. Id rather spend the money on entry fees going to more events.

Concentric twisting is completely optional for grassroots budget racing. But it's still PITA building out a harness from scratch, even with a universal harness kit for a standalone ECU.

As Pat mentioned, this is optional, not a requirement. Not all guys pay for the work either, many do it themselves. If you were paying someone to do this work for you though, your budget is going to be big enough that you are not worried about event entry fees 😉 Guys getting this work done for them are generally racing others with similar budgets and builds which I wouldn't call grass roots. The logic you are using here you should be using on your entire build too. You shouldn't build your car beyond your means. For example if you fit suspension that took you a year to save for and you damage a corner at the first event, you don't want to be saving for months and months for that one replacement part let alone the other work. Whats the fun in that? It's all relative, and the guys you are racing at your level will be in the same boat as you too at the end of the day budget and spec wise 😎 - Taz.

Just wondering, for people who do this professionally for a motorsports team or otherwise, is the career path and pay good?

Being paid well to do anything motorsport related is pretty niche most would argue 😂 Wiring skills are certainly something people always are on the hunt for. We don't pay a team of people to do this work however so I can't give you an honest answer on pay compared to a business that is directly employing people for this work. 99% of people using HPA are doing it to learn how to work on their own projects rather than looking for employment right after viewing a course, and the courses are setup for that 99%. Some people do end up using that experience, building on it further, and making a living off it eventually but that off their own back rather than a path we have created for them 😎 - Taz.

Layout is good but the twisting just seems like a nightmare waiting to happen if something goes wrong.

If your car is heavily damaged to the point your wiring is toast, it is the least of your worries. At the same time this isn't something done in every and any car and like any wiring job success all starts with the planning stage 😎 - Taz.

Great video…. I might point out another wiring means… ribbon wiring. The purpose of this is where wiring must bend in one direction, though this can be multi plane bending but not transverse to wire lenght operation; where the absolute minimal volume of wire is needed, and/or; where maximum heat dissipation is needed such as using the absolute minimum Al wire size. This is where the wires are layer flat next to each other. They even make ribbon wiring with separate wires adhered or molded together in ribbons of various numbers of conductors… all color coded but the ribbon provides a natural way of special identification of wires, too… and branch circuits can easily be separated from the main ribbon: by simple pulling them free from the main ribbon. Though not as common laid up ribbons of individual wires is possible but this requires more effort to accomplish… and expense. Nearly all computers and even high tech military weapons use these advantages, and as a result connectors with extraordinary simplicity are available and the non for making extraordinarily compact connections. I note often flat conductors imbedded in flat and tough plastic ribbons are used in computer wiring. One of the neat things is this type of wiring is particularly suited to addition of add-on filters to suppress EMI and extraneous signals off sensitive circuits. The types using high temperature resistant film like Kapton or high temp polyester with flat conductors have per volume of conductive material the highest current carrying capacity. And, they can be mounted using adhesive either as an attached film … like tape… or with double sided adhesive tape to structural components.
What are the BEST wiring connectors you can use?
