So, Roy was always HUGE! Only knew him from Kamelot but oh man he is a giant! His voice is not from this world. Loved the power metal guitar shred too.

@@kmacgregor6361 Roy doesn't sound the same nowadays, obviously, but that's ok because it's different, but still good. He can't go high anymore, but he's got the advantage of years of opera training, performing experience, and he has a naturally beautiful voice to boot. I've been thinking about it lately, it's funny...Tommy Karevik came to Kamelot ten, eleven years ago and he is easily still in his prime. He's without a doubt a great singer, yet he didn't even bother with Kamelot's earlier work because there's no way he could sound even remotely close to Khan from that era. Man, prime Roy was literally untouchable. Amazing performer, just incredible. I admit, older Conception songs did sound better with them being young and energetic, with Roy's glass shattering vocals, but given the circumstances, they sound pretty damn amazing now as well.

@@kmacgregor6361 Indeed! Still incredible! Went to Stockholm in april last year to Conceptions concert. Was blown away by Roy and the whole band. Since then Conception moved from second spot to first in my favourite band list. Fates Warning had to step down a step. =) If you have the chance to see them live: DO IT!

I actually came here to compare his voice between different times, because I always thought that he sounded very clean and vibrant in Kamelot. Then suddenly somewhere at the time of the Poetry of the poisoned (Kamelot album) I felt that he started to sound more hoarse. Then I heard the same in the the new Conception albums and thought that has he last his voice completely. But now I hear the same hoarseness in this video and the early Conception albums too. So is it just an effect he likes to do with his voice?
