Does fiberskin give a different sound then calfskin or synthetic.

heh... three years later... Fiberskin is meant to be a synthetic facsimile of animal hides like calfskin. (Fiberskin is the Remo synthetic). Ideally, they would sound the same, but synthetics are much more resistant to change in weather, longer lasting, easier to tune, and a whole bunch of other things. Calfskins sound a bit deeper, warmer, and "fatter".
