Concert by the Royal Mixed Coral Society Orpheus, Druten, conductor Jan van Wees
Orpheus was founded in 1849 and when beginning as a male-choir, later on they went together with an in the same village existing woman-choir. From that time they were called The Mixed Choral Society Opheus. During a long time this Society was the prominent cultural heart of the community, expressly under the conducter Piet Versloot. In 1949 at the occasion of their centenairy, the Queen of the Netherlands gave the choir the regal title, so their proud name was since then "The Royal Mixed Coral Society Orpheus". The choir is the last decade successfully conducted by Maarten-Jan Dongelmans.
