aosanshou Really? That's surprising. When I met them during their State Visit to the UK, she talked to me about her love of music and poetry. Didn't seem at all shallow.

M Scott They ARE shallow. How they are looked by *especially by foreigners and its nobles are everything to them, they must have calculated every word they say.
@mscott39186 жыл бұрын
aosanshou Isn't that usual with monarchs though? They have to be all things to all people and never controversial. At least, that is my experience after retiring from 30 years of Royal service.

+jdstep97 We were the only people allowed to trade with Japan back in the 17th century. Today, most people in The Netherlands love Japan: the Dutch youth prefers anime over Western cartoons, a lot of grownups drives a Japanese car and we REALLY love the Japanese cuisine over here. I know that a lot of Japanese people love The Netherlands because of our tulps, infrastructure and food (especially the tulps and infrastructure). So yeah, we had a strong history togheter, but we have a strong relationship right now as well :)

Yes King Alexander should bow to the Emperor of Japan . But Japan and the Netherlands have a very long common history and are in excellent terms , and the Emperor of Japan and King Alexander do actually like each other . Japan is the oldest monarchy still in existence and without discontinuity in its lineage , so technically, everybody should bow to them , but this is a matter of choice today . I had the privilege to meet them and i bowed at 90 degrees , but i did it not only because my family is old aristocracy and this was my duty to bow , not only because i am married to a Japanese and out of respect felt that i had to bow too, but mostly because i have the dearest affection and respect for the Emperor and his wife , they are truly a lovely couple and beloved by so many . I am extremely happy that the Emperor is given the right to abdicate in 2020 , and that his son will take the succession . Normally the emperor has to die for the son to get on the throne , but Emperor Akihito is an elderly gentleman now with some health issues and deserves a rest . I can only wish him and his wife and wonderful retirement from public life and a very private life after that . I can't wait for the ceremony of enthronement of the new Emperor of Japan , very few are given the chance to witness this , especially since this will be the first time in Japanese history that an emperor retires and witnesses the enthronement of his successor in 1400 years . Plus a 20 days holiday offered to everyone in Japan (which is a HUGE holiday for the Japanese) and on top of that this is the year of the Tokyo Olympics . 2020 is definitely going to be a Japanese year and i am not missing one bit of it .

*CUCKED BLOODLINES* By Size Definition Japan is Not Empire Japanese claimed their monarch as emperor to indicate their monarch equal status with the emperors of China, because Japan never become Chinese Tributaries. But its all because of merely Luck Japanese Size is too small to be called an Empire
@GoofyHD32 жыл бұрын
By diplomatic convention, all monarchs are considered to be on an equal level and thus no monarch is ever "supposed" to bow to another monarch.
@user-it2on5tc6u Жыл бұрын
The Emperor of Japan is not only the monarch of Japan, But also the head of Shinto religion. If there is any reason why King Alexander should bow to him, it is because he is the priest-king.

They can’t bow or curtsy to each other because in spite of how much older one party is than the others, their rank is technically the same. If it were a few years earlier when they were still prince and princess of the Netherlands then it would undoubtedly have taken place.
@jumpmomongaable5 жыл бұрын
Clement Lee well but technically we see “kissing” greeting as offensive, but Japanese royals adjusted for other cultures.
How does royal protocol work between the Dutch and Japanese families? How come the Dutch royal couple did not curtesy and now to the Japanese royal family? Is the Japanese dysnasty not older than the Dutch or would they be considered equals as far as age?
@MaxVliet6 жыл бұрын
Monarchs do not bow to other monarchs, whether they be emperors, kings, queens, or princes as would be the case in Monaco for instance. They are heads of state, and are therefore equal. In written correspondence, they refer to each others as 'cousins', even though they aren't actual cousins.

Monarchs never bow to each other as they are of equal rank. Diana was not a monarch, so the Japanese emperor/empress outranked her.
