I have been moving pianos for over 30 years, and in the old days we all winged it a bit more than we should have, but you learn from your near misses and from your spells of pulls and strains and invest and develop equipment and knowledge that enables you to carry out your trade in a safe and controlled manner with a plan b in place for all eventualities. I have seen some ignorance and some inexperience and som downright stupidity, but this, I can't find words to describe the muppetery of not only the movers attempting it but the person who instructed them and allowed them to move it with no shoe.why would you lift it when there is no need to lift it. There is ample room on the stairs for extra guys to control the gentle slide of the shoe over the stairs, pad the stairs or bottom of shoe if worried about marble, imagine the damage if dropped on the stair nosing and to the case. The health and safety is a joke , you allowed members of the public to use the stairs alongside you ! It is just so wrong from every way you look at it.like some else said , a twist of an ankle or knee, or just a slip that is coming down on top of the lower guy , untold damage to a fine instrument , a good chance it would then fall side ways, once that goes a few degrees you ain't stopping it. If those guys are actually employed then there are serious implications for their boss for allowing them to carry out a move that way. Absolutely dumbfounded at this idiocy, it's not impressive in the slightest way.

WOW... that's a 1200 lb piano. I'm impressed that only 2-men could carry that. A piano board would have come in handy on this move.

Im a professional piano mover & tuner more than 30 year - that's impressive it looks like a 7 ft grand they weigh around 875 pound give or take on the brand name of the piano - for two people to pick up and walk down steps --- i use a skid board pad the floor let it slide down the step less wear and tear on ur back over the years - very impressive 😊💯

And a skid is particularly important on larger grands as it distributes the weight on the piano dolly!

Wow, sliding the case over the edge of a stone step with only a thin plastic wrap? Not the protection for handling a $50,000 instrument.

Incredible..

Hard to believe there’s people who sign up for those jobs. The risk from damaging the piano, property, or yourself is way too high for me. Respect to them.

Those straps work good. Those are some decent movers, because a piano that size usually needs four men.

WoW, No skidboard, pads, piano should've even been padded, atleast one more man, AND a Big mistake - ass*backwards down the stairs. Keyboard end goes down first, Always. Surprisingly, atleast they took the lid off, I've saw many move w the lid on a big, nice, expensive grand... It's possible to move w lid, but why chance w the edge hanging down & edge & hinges damages etc etc... They probably Only removed for weight purposes, which is one of the many reasons... Strong guys, could be great piano & other movers w a little training & a few bucks for needed equipment..... Been moving pianos for 30+ years

Why isn’t the piano strapped to a piano board? Basically it’s like using hump straps but modified into a shoulder sling. Weird. That wide stair case was pretty cut and dried.

Where do you get straps like that they are using to pick it up? how do they attach to the piano?

Piano guy, I fail to see who you can possibly say this is no more risky than powerlifting or squats, I can't remember the last time I saw any weight lifters pressing big loads on a staircase. Even in the weights room which have level floors and hooks to hang yr weights on if you are at your limit and also a "spotter " right there to grab the bar or guide you back down. Totally different.
