This was the perfect video to stumble on, I’m going to the eras tour soon and am debating whether to upgrade my phone or buy a compact camera! Love all the direct comparisons. Both seem impressive given how far away you were! Did you notice much of a difference in audio quality when recording video? And do you have any experience with android cameras? Been reading a lot about the camera on the new Samsung phone!

I am so excited that you are going to the Eras Tour! I know you will have the best time. I am jealous that you are going to hear some of TTPD songs and we didn't. On the other hand, I am sad that she took out some songs like The Last Great American Dynasty but I know she can't just add a bunch more songs without taking some out. When it comes to sound, I would say that the iPhone had better audio. Sorry, but I don't have any experience with android cameras. I will say that I am really glad I updated from my iPhone 11pro to the 15pro max. It was so much better in low light. Have an amazing time!

Nice Video Dave! I always wondered what dads would do at a Taylor Swift concert. Now I know.... Camera Tests!!! Keep it up.

Thanks so much Brian! I was also dressed as a key lime green dog in reference to Taylor's song The Last Great American Dynasty. 🤣Evidence is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZrGcoCeid-Kd68si=_KviBpZ9yAiPfuGJ&t=207

@@thephotographytoolkit Awesome! Looks like a great time. Good on you for getting tickets. It's almost like trying to win the lottery.
@thephotographytoolkit7 ай бұрын
@@briandutkewich7739 Getting tickets was next to impossible. It was definitely a lot of hope and disappointment. After the initial release, there were a number of other releases all the way up to days before the concert. All I would say is to keep watching for tickets as if you are persistent you might get lucky.

I didn’t know they allowed compact cameras to be brought into Singapore national stadium, maybe I should try next time

Good idea! But, like I said in the video, unless you're really far away, I would probably just stick with my iPhone 15 pro Max.

Actually it was written in the rules that no digital camera of any sort is allowed. I know this coz I actually rented a camera for this just a day before they announced it so I had to return it. Guess he got lucky!

You forget to mention battery drained as a con on Iphone. Personally I want to use my phone to call a taxi or just to have enough battery for later at the night, if I pick my phone to video and photo, I get stress about by battery life... Having a second option as a pocket camera is better
@thephotographytoolkit16 күн бұрын
Fair point. I don't have a problem with my iphone lasting all day because it is pretty new (I bought it 10 months ago). I do make sure that I bring an external battery pack if I am going somewhere and I know I will be using my iPhone a lot for many different things (like this concert). That being said, I didn't test which would drain the battery more, the iPhone or the camera. The health of each of the batteries would definitely have an effect on that test. Thanks for the comment.

Can i ask you a question I have a stage show and looking for a camera that I can use to video about two hours and then reselll the video. What do you think would be best?
@thephotographytoolkit7 ай бұрын
Good question. There are probably a number of options that would work but there are a few things to keep in mind. I would start by use multiple cameras so that you have options to cut away to other perspectives. I would also think about how you are going to record the audio. The audio recorded from the cameras is probably not going to be the best quality because they will be further away so I would record the audio separately. Are there a lot of light changes where things go from dark to light or have spotlights? If so, you might need someone monitoring the camera. Can you set up that wide camera on a tripod and just forget about it? Will someone be able to operate those cameras so they can zoom and follow what is happening on stage? Could you set up some iPhones on the stage where they don't interfere like one attached to the drum set using the wide angle lens to give you a different perspective? I would have one camera that has the standard wide shot of the stage from the front and then I would have at least 1 or 2 other cameras. The other cameras can be for closer shots and for following any movement if you have people moving across the stage. The key thing for me if I was going to buy a video of the show would be to have a video that isn't just from one camera that records the show. Anyone who goes to the show can do that. I would want something that has closer shots and shots from different perspectives. So make sure you have multiple cameras. The types of cameras depend on your budget. You could use your smart phones. Just make sure you have battery packs and enough space to record the concert. You could use a camera like the Lumix for the zoomed shots to give you some B roll but it would need to be operated by someone who know how to use the camera. I hope that helps.

Amazing and very helpful video!! Im seeing Taylor next month and can't wait! Do you have any recommendations for editing on the photos app on the iPhone (I have the 15 pro max) after shooting the photos and videos to help increase the overall quality i.e. exposure, highlights, contrast etc.?
@thephotographytoolkit6 ай бұрын
That is awesome you are going to see Taylor Swift next month! Enjoy the experience. It is absolutely incredible! I do recommend trying things out beforehand in darker conditions to see how well everything works. If you really want to go for the best quality, you could try to enable ProRAW Max on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and turn on "ProRAW & Resolution Control" and once you do that you will be able to select "Pro Default" and the highest setting is ProRAW Max (up to 48 MP). Then when you go into your camera there will be a "RAW Max" icon. If there is a line through it, then just tap it and the line will go away and it will be active. It will give you a larger file size and will give you the most data in your image to deal with later for things like shadows and highlights etc. The photos do take up A LOT more space so be aware of that. I hope you have the best experience ever!

Are the controls illuminated...deciding on a compact cam for concerts...Long ago I used Canon g12 fifteen years ago. It was fantastic in manual mode. Will there be a problem getting the lumix into an arena?
@thephotographytoolkit6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. The controls are not illuminated but I didn't have a problem seeing them. In regards to if there is a problem getting the Lumix into the arena, you might want to check with the event as some events (or even some arenas) have blanket rules about cameras. Some say you can't bring professional cameras while others say you can't bring any cameras other than your phone. The Lumix is super compact and easy to carry so I didn't have a problem. I hope that helps.

but arent cameras prohibited at concerts
@thephotographytoolkit5 ай бұрын
Cameras with detachable lenses or ones that are deemed as 'professional' cameras are definitely not allowed. Generally this means bulkier cameras can't be brought into venues. However, when it comes to smaller cameras, it depends on the concert and the venue that is hosting the concert if they allow you to bring in a point and shoot camera or not.
