Thank you! I was just put on Concerta from the non-stimulant, Strattera, not working. I feel much better in understanding this medicine because of this video.

@zaynexotic for me, it was life changing. I could definitely tell a difference between the two types of medicines. For me, after a week, my body adjusted, and it shows at my job and all of my performance evaluations. I wish you well, and I hope it helps you as well. Don't give up.

Concerta gives good results the first 3 hours, then I get a dip, take a fast release with it and after another 3 hours it's completely done.

I just recently started Concerta (18mg) for ADD (do not have the over hyper aspect) but find every day I take it, I feel my heart rate increased/ racing off and on. I am wondering if it is not the right fit for me. I do love how it gives me energy and ability to concentrate and get my work done though!

Just recently got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 31. My first 3 days on Concerta were like a whole new life, I had a much easier time to focus on stuff, kept working at tasks i normally would procrastinate, higher self esteem, emotionally much more settled, smartphone screen time cut in half... I was wide awake, didn't feel the need for caffeine at all - only downside is that i had trouble going to sleep and getting tired in the evening. Fast forwards 2-3 weeks: The effect is reduced quite a bit, don't notice the benefits quite as much anymore (still better than without), sleeping is luckily no issue anymore... I'm wondering if i should double the dosage from 18 to 36 mg already? I'm afraid i might develop a tolerance at this rate (eventhough my psychiatrist says you won't if you actually have adhd). Apart from the reduced effect now and the initial sleep problems it worked wonders for me with no other side effects...

Did you up the dosage and notice any difference? I started last week on 18mg and my first two days were exactly as you described but only lasted about 6-8 hours, then I felt more like my old self by day 4 while on concerta.

@@ic_0129 yes i went on 27 mg after 1 1/2 months and i feel that's about right for me. I still have most of the benefits and barely any downsides. i went on 32 mg for a couple of days but didn't feel like i needed it. I would recommend sticking with one dose for a while and then going up - in the beginning i switched depending on the day which made it hard to actually feel how the dosage affected me, now i stick with 27 mg for workdays and then none on the weekend. If your metabolism is fast, maybe you would benefit from taking a second pill at noon. My metabolism is really slow, so i just take it in the morning so that i can wind down in the evening. I hope you'll find the level that works best for you :)

New user here. I was on 5mg twice a day after being on a waiting list for two years. I was on that from April till now. Starting on 18 mg slow release twice a day next week i think. I haven't had any side affects as of yet and haven't noticed anything different in how i feel. But my dose is going to be four times higher next week (36mg?) so any advice is welcome, thanks guys

Just started on Concerta 18mg today. Very subtle compared to Ritalin and Medikinet that I took last week (currently on drug trial). Does it release it's dosage in thirds? Will be taking Concerta 27mg and 36mg this week.

Hi Dr, I'm genuinely curious on the inattention side of Bipolar vs ADHD? Is it true that for Bipolar, the inattention issue stems from being overstimulated? i.e an abundance of dopamine especially during manic phases? Whilst for ADHD, the inattention issue stems from being understimulated? i.e an over depletion of dopamine? I understand that these two disorders aren't mutually exclusive and it can be comorbid. But I'm genuinely curious because one must be cautious in prescribing high doses of stimulants for an over stimulated brain. Interesting discourse!

Inattention can have many causes and ADHD can be co morbid with other mental health conditions which makes treatment complex. Have to be very careful with stimulants in bipolar as it can precipitate Mania.

I’m curious the only side effect I get from concerta is mood swings what does this mean? My doctor will not discuss this but says I have anxiety yes I do have anxiety and I think that’s from my dose being to high now? I don’t know
