Corelli writes so brilliantly for recorder and these guys - the recorder players and the whole ensemble - played this beautifully. I particularly loved the way that recorder players worked so well together.... lovely articulation/phrasing, great ornamentation, love those swells and above all loved that tone!!! :-)

I remember as a kid, I had tons of 415Hz recordings of early recorder music copied to cassette. I had to speed up the tape to practice. My current recorder is also a 440Hz one, because everywhere, we have 440Hz instruments, especially the pipe organ in our church...
Great music. Recorder playing of a very high standard. This is a musical performance that I will listen to again and again.

Geniale e rara interpretazione con gli strumenti a fiato di una grandiosa opera del Corelli. Secondo me l'arpeggio iniziale del violoncello doveva essere un pochino più dominante rispetto agli altri strumenti.Grazie.

The recorder, easy to learn hard to master. When considering recorder players, M. Petri is probably the gold standard. I think D. Oberlinger has improved in the last decade, but still has not reached the level of M. Petri. D. Oberlinger player with greater abandon than more controlled and refined M. Petri.

I'm in awe of Michala but all my teachers and recorder dealers call her 'just a technician' your thoughts ?
@Ennah086 жыл бұрын
@@acyutanandadas1326 I think It's unfair to M. Petri, she is a full musician! But with baroque music I enjoy the more "free" playing more. I like Oberlinger - and Sebastien Marq - and Bolette Roed, who is danish too - and Frans Brüggen, of course!
@jaysparc6 жыл бұрын
If you think Petri is the "gold standard" you're not very knowledgeable about recorder. Petri has no dynamics, one articulation, knows nothing about historically informed interpretation. There are many great recorder players out there these days.

@@jaysparc I agree Petri is a fabulous technician but not a great musician. Prof. Oberlinger has far more dynamics, better articulation and all-round musicianship.

Beautiful played! know this concert since I was a child and I have fond memories of it. Sometimes another interpretation is dissappointening then but that was certainly not the case here. The only thing a bit annoying was the spinning around of the left recorder. I had to stop watching that and focus on other things. I definitively will replay this video again in Christmas time.

@Max Ellent I have several interpretations already on cd including the one my granddad had on record. And I enjoy them every year. This can be a beautiful third one. And indeed: I don't have to watch it. Listening alone is ok. So everything will be fine.

Wish there was a way to mute the video and keep the audio. The histrionics of the recorder players is childish and uncalled for in a professional presentation.
@MuziekMetMeesterMarius4 жыл бұрын
In music.youtube.com you could decide to only listen to the music. I regulary listen to the music only (also to save data on my mobile phone when I am not on WIFI). But to be honest I find your comment slightly harsh. I have been watching this video quite some time lately and I see two enthusiastic and very great music performers on recorder. Next to that, Tabea is even younger in this video than she is today. It is a learning process for her and I think it is important to encourage people on stage.
@MuziekMetMeesterMarius4 жыл бұрын
@Max Ellent Hmm that is a risky path full of pitfalls. I try to stay away from the authenticity debate, since it is a dead-end debate. There are so many factors that make a musical performance authentic or not... I would qualify the question of authenticity as a wicked problem. I think it is harsh when one calls movement of players 'histrionics' and 'childish' and 'unprofessional'... especially when it comes to performances of young musicians who are vulnerable on stage.
@MuziekMetMeesterMarius4 жыл бұрын
@Max Ellent No problem at all! I am not after being right or not. It is indeed an opinion.

@MuziekMetMeesterMarius4 жыл бұрын
@@mikel4510 Not at all. I know though that it is a dead-end debate, and my English is also not good enough to have that conversation. I wrote in Dutch several papers about authenticity in music though, to know that it is a wicked problem, and that people have the tendency to simply pick one or two aspects of the music they dislike and then start telling that it is not authentic, while many, many other aspects of the music appear to be authentic, but aren't at all. It is a complicated subject, and as said my English is no way good enough to have an honest and well considered discussion. I disagree though that the movements of the recorder players should be rejected with harsh comments; even if they are not authentic.

Ok here we go, fabulous string playing love the bass player, they all followed the recorders good. Would have been nice to see the keyboard player a little sometimes. The strummed guitar thingy man brilliant so laid back and relaxed. Recorders, well, too intense from the lead, too many ornaments, too rushed, too domineering, too fast, not with the band at all, pity.
