Concerts In The Metaverse Are Making Artists Millions | Forbes

Justin Bieber is the latest pop star to announce a concert in the metaverse, partnering with virtual entertainment company Wave, amid a boom in interactive virtual concert popularity that began with Epic Games’ “Fortnite.”
“Fortnite” broke ground with the idea of a virtual concert in 2019 with its first collaboration with EDM artist Marshmello, which was reportedly viewed by 10.7 million people. Travis Scott grossed from his “Fortnite” collaboration with the company in 2020, including merchandise sales, a source told Forbes. Ariana Grande had a spike in streams of her songs “R.E.M.” and “Be Alright” following her concert in August.
Travis Scott broke Marshmello’s record with 12.3 million views on the first night of his virtual concert in “Fortnite.” Due to its popularity, “Fortnite” launched a “Soundwave Series” in September, allowing artists from around the world, like Egyptian singer Mohamed Hamaki, to create their own virtual experiences. Following “Fortnite’s” success, other companies like Pokémon have followed suit, creating a virtual concert for its anniversary event with rapper Post Malone in February, allowing viewers to see an avatar of the star interacting with Pokémon.

I started taking nature walks after spending time in VR. VR has people, but not nature. It also made people in the real world seem fake, as VR strips away our bodies, and with that all the BS social media fakeness, and people just talk as themselves, unlike in reality. Perhaps it was always that way and VR simply had me talking to more people.

Oh come on... Not everyone is the same. I would hate that as someone with hypersensitivity. I get the whole vibe aspect, but acting like a virtual concert couldn't have a vibe or ambiance of its own is odd. You don't think the ELITE weren't in charge of regular concerts? And when I'm talking about the Metaverse, I'm not talking something like Fortnite, but an entirely recreated virtual concert with technology that is still a few years away. Consider also the people who love these artists but don’t have the opportunity to see them play live, due to location/ age/ resources. I feel like its an extreme opportunities for education industries with the exception of PE. We often learnby having to read textbooks, which doesnt work out for everyone. With metaverse, you can actually re-live the chapters in literatures, scens of history, etc. Also, I cant blame artists for going meta because the cost of tours & set up is extremely high + fans cant always follow them everywhere. With that being said, it comes with the companies high due diligence, but cant see it happening under Meta previously known as FB. Not to mention, internet providers in the U.S. isnt exactly the most reliable.

Recreating/animating historical events similar to people creating KZbin videos for the masses to learn about historical events. Book publishers could partner up with creators in the Metaverse to establish virtualizations of words/events that students can interact with and that are accompanied by a physical/digital copy of the book provided by the educators in school. It could be considered "gamification" of learning, but we are already doing this and could take it a step further.

@@Drstrange3000 this is not true at all. Some Introverts are more depressed because they live in constant comfort. Now if you are a introvert and get out of your comfort zone, they are probably less likely to feel depressed.

@@torresthemonster That isn't even remotely true. For some people, possibly but not everyone is the same. I won't even get fully into it, but I am someone who has went way past their comfort zone repeatedly and felt worse and worse. Learning more about myself, my triggers, my energy levels, and how to self regulate myself is much more important. Constantly exposing myself way out of my comfort zone never gave me the chance to begin learning how to regulate because I was way past the my threshold to cope. Having ADHD and understanding it more as an adult and dealing with various severe trauma form different sources and other mental health issues makes it a huge challenge in social interactions. My therapist even thinks I do way too much and is telling me to slow down, and obviously I internalize stuff I hear online from people who truly don't understand. I'm not "comfortable." I'm freaking terrified of people to the point I shake and become mute when pushed too far.

I don’t know if you may have seen it before but there is a movie that came out in 2018 called ready player one which legitimately is the metaverse way before it was even created or released to the public anyway but way crazier they have equipment on where their actual movements moves their avatar in wherever they are in the metaverse and also a costume which makes you physically feel it so if someone shot you you’d feel something in 5-10 years that will probably become a reality it’s crazy how things that happen in movies that are meant to be impossible are slowly coming to the real world we’re in a black mirror episode hands down the metaverse is going to completely dominate and take over the world people won’t leave their rooms unless it’s to work, eat/drink, or go to the toilet any other second of their time they’ll be attached in this insane disconnected world that feels like reality from the virtual connection in real time you watch it’ll happen it’s some what already like that with the basic vr that’s already out there and it’s only going to advance and you know it the whole world does
