there are clues in the catacombs (not that im smart enough to solve any of them) like the broken warden statues that pointed the secret hunters to the warden's vault island. i have no clue how they decided to summon the warden owl pet and get the buffs but at least the first part was obvious :D

Thanks to the WoW gods because I only did the first 3 locks and everything was unlocked, i got a message about lock 4 being inert and that all mechanisms were already opened lol. Just like others I did this with a pen and paper as well, i just wrote a line for each rat i killed and took my time to go around the dungeon a bit to double check, changing the setting and creating the macro were perfect ways to get this done! Thank you again for the awesome video, i think this is the 3rd video ive followed and no i have 1-8oclock finished!

This is actually one of the best Orb 8 tutorials out there. ConCon always takes it slow, and explains it in easy to understand examples and terms. As an old Gen X'er myself, I used a pen and paper method of tracking which lock I was working on, how many rats I killed for that lock, and then made sure I was looking at the correct Table for the number of the lock, and for how many statues on which pad. My suggestion is to just take it slow and be methodical and you won't fail if you follow this video. Thanks again, ConCon.

If the third failed, you are probably making the same mistake I am. Short version: just click 'BEGIN' once. Long: I figured it out, and it must have been written down, I just didn't notice it. First click 'BEGIN', after that 'SUBMIT', rats appeared, when you are done with the first board, just click 'SUBMIT' (DO NOT CLICK BEGIN AGAIN) and you can continue with the next board after you have pulled down the statues from the previous one. That's it! I hope I could help! I feel so stupid.

To help those confused with the chart like I was. When it's a single number it is just one statute to that number. For example, in chart 3, 7 rats it says 1 you will take one statue to one. BTW MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL the STATUTES from the last attempt it will screw up your next attempt. Another example chart 6, 7 rats, it says 2. TAKE ONE STATUTE TO 2!

If u're a hunter u can send your pets to sand on the pads, doing the same thing as those statues. after "SUBMIT" just click the follow buttom and then they will come back to. no need to run around pulling all those statues since u got 2 pets to use as statues

@@drewtabori8447 make sure u're using the right amout of statues/pets u need. its not the status that make the thing work, u just need the right color on the right pad, and the color is from the number of pets/status that u put on top of the pad. ALSO if let any critter alive, they might run over the pad and fuck u up

As advice, you don't have to get them all right in a row; it doesn't matter if you fail. I managed to open it even though I made mistakes twice in a row. The important thing is to get the 7 right. TY @conCon you are the best!

LOL that was crazy but not as frustrating as some of the other orb puzzles. I was under the impression that you had to do all 7 rounds rounds, but for me it unlocked the orb after only 4 rounds and I didn’t even know and I went ahead and tried to do it on 5 rounds and almost panicked when it said nothing on the machine except saying all mechanisms were found/solved, then I went to the orb room and saw the orb there! Anyway, thanks again for all these guides. I have one more to go before I open it. I hope the last one is not as hard as some of these other ones were!

I miscounted the rats twice on the first round, but then I got through all 7. Fortunately it only shocked me, but didn't die or even get hurt. Maybe it gets worse the further you get? I think what messed me up was killing a rat without noticing that two died. I was careful about that going forward. There were even times when there were two rats in the exact same spot. I had to give them a few seconds for them to separate. Thank you for all the help!

As always, thank you for the video. This one was interesting since it's another test of patience, but with a bit of less alt-tabbing between windows unlike with the owl statue puzzle. Just a slight update, but getting the wrong plate/number of statues will not result in a death, but will instead result in a lighting bolt striking your character similar to the Fashion Frenzy animation for being a winner in that mode. If that happens it will reset you back to Lock 1.

I'd just like to add something about the enigma machine. Maybe this is different now that it is only 3, maybe it has always been this way but I was failing this after the second or third attempt constantly. Then I realized that once you hit submit you go looking for mice again. I was always hitting start again, which was just resetting it back to the first lock each time. I believe that 95% of people would figure out to do this without being told. But for the others like me, there it is.

Worthy to note: If you make a mistake it starts all over. You do not need to reset the instance. After the mistake, the rats will reappear, just start with table one again.

FYI. Do not press begin after the first submit. If you accidently did - you need to go back out of the instance and reset it. You will be there for hours thinking that because new rats spawned you can just keep going. You cannot.

I just did this tonight and I only had to unlock the mechanism 3 times. YES ONLY 3 TIMES!!! In addition, I figured out you should kill the other mice because if one happens to step on one of the pads, it will activate that pad and if its at the same time you pull the lever, you'll get shocked (no longer die, just damaged). (Edit - I might have solved 7 times but I restarted twice so maybe it doesn't have to be contiguous solves?)

Not sure if it was clarified in the video or if it has changed since it came out but I didn't have have to get 7 in a row, just 7 total. I died a couple of times and restarted. The door just opened for me on the third step after a couple of restarts. There was an instance where I did survive the electrocution while having a shield active after getting it wrong and restarting so that may have something to do with it, not sure. Edit- After reading a couple of other recent comments it seems its not uncommon for the puzzle to solve on the third lock.

This guide is a bit wrong but still helpful. For example when the tables give a number, but not "1 on 7", just "7". That means "1 on 7". Also you don't need to necessarily do all 7 before the great lock releases, for me it just took 3.

The wowhead guild has a link to a weakaura add on that will track the number of rats killed and will tell you where to put the statues and how many go on that spot. It is called Enigma Machine Rat Kill Tracker

Put this into a macro, leave the macro on your bars and then just change the /tar line when you have other quests that need to find / target things. 👍

When I reset the instance the engima machine tells me I have 3 locked mechanisms, not 7 whats up with that?. So I click begin and submit, count the rats for table 1, click submit, down to 2 locked, count the rats for table 2, submit, 1 locked. count rats for table 3, submit, fail, back up to 3 mechanisms locked. So now am I back on table 1 or do I need to redo table 3? or do I move on? I have done this process 5 or 6 times now and I hit the same result each time.

These videos have been a lifesaver - but this one is a little unclear on one thing. Every time you hit submit, more rats are going to respawn. After every submit you'll need to go around and re-count/re-kill all the rats in the catacombs. The video made it seem like the rat count would be the same for all the submits - it's not. Other than that it all works great. I also unlocked the door after three submits - not sure if that's standard now or not.

you need to go back and do 5oclock, it requires pet battle and you use your hatred tokens ontop of the golden muffin you got from doing pet battles and turn them into the skeleton in booty bay. YOu missed a step

Before I completed my 3rd turn, "a great lock has been released" happened. and I was able to open the vault door with the 8th orb. Apparently it is possible without completing 7.
