Indie goes their way most of the time, emulation is slowly being strangled by capitalism, older console playing are becoming harder and harder to do and steam is one marketing team away from falling in their hand… Even namco bandai (that had one of the best new ip sales in recent years) is rumoured to have now a dei-team , dei-team and sony is killing square (one of the biggest, and inconvenient, japan publisher). Even cdproject, previously politically independent, hired dei-consultant. Heck, even R* is making gtavi with politics in mind. Sure, valve could “save” pc with the release of a super politically neutral game, like HL3 or L4D3 if done like it is 2004 again, but i cannot hold on with hopes alone

The thing is...even if their goal is to destroy the gaming industry, they are going to fail. Even if the industry suffers a crash like it did 1983. Back then, it was a new industry with nothing to back it up, but we have had years of very good games proving that the industry DOES have a place. All another crash will do is destroy the giants of the industry, indi games will still be profitable and the industry will build itself back up over time. Even IF what she said actually comes to pass, and no new games get made, that still wouldn’t account for the sheer volume of many a gamer’s backlog of unplayed games. Not only that, but many a gamer (including yours truly) like to replay games again and again.

Imagine the hubris, that if she and other studios like hers don't get our patronage as a matter of course, the industry is going to end wholesale. Like there are no other more passionate companies, and even indies, that will pick up their slack and see the obvious gap in the market. We are constantly showing that we will reward good work. And yes we have sooooo many games on backlog. There's literal decades of good games to work through, give me 100 years and I still couldn't play them all.
