I don't like it when an agenda is being forced down my throat. I believe in accepting people for what they are, but I don't accept a forced way of behaviour being thrusted on me. Demanding respect, while giving none will not fly. I like your input in this debate.

Thank you for the support!. One game that manage to keep it well balanced was Baldurs Gate 3 with one of my favorite characters in games, Astarion. Such a well written character and awesome actor playing Astarion.

Okey, not what I've noticed in several different parts of communities, groups and forums. Especially in groups were words like woke is censored. Ive only seen the woke minority group screeching as soon as anyone mentioned this is woke garbage. Always blaming it on everything else, but never it being woke. But either way, games like this is going down one after the other due to mostly this reason.

@@davonsden Do you think you maybe frequent communities who put a lot of emphasys on words like woke, and the culture war from a certain political side, and that has shaped a skewed image in your mind about how relevant or important those issues are? Cause, depending on how far right you are you could definitely call me woke for just being pro minority rights and representation and LGBT+ . I am in social groups with people that I know are woke and maybe even woker than I am, and we never talk about this kind of stuff, or take it so seriously. I worry about all sorts of personal and social issues, but games being woke? I would like some characters that represent me, but in the end of the day I and people do not worry about games being woke enough, nor does anyone I ever met. Except people usually socially right, usually to criticize it. Btw just to make it clear you are not a noe-nazi right? I know it would be a funny thing to ask for me too, except the last guy who I talked to about "forced diversity", you know, the old word for "woke" linked me a propaganda video about how the SS were not racist, and the USSR was the true nazis. So I'm just being cautions and asking :P

@ezekielthedragon7558 no definitely not a neo nazi lol I would categorize myself more towards the middle leaning toward right. I think it's important to be able to respect and have an open friendly debate or dialog even if both parties are in each side of the political spectrum. That's how I've lived my life among friends who are left while I've more and more leaned to right wing. I've had friends that are gay since over two decades ago, so my view isn't skewed. But I can understand if you painted your own image from this video and this small conversation. How ever, the left isn't what it once where. Many of my friends who once voted left dosent recognize what the left become and are also sick of all the wokeness. The left has turned into something extreme rather than a peaceful loving tolerant group. Which often is something that is recognized when this debate is on the agenda. As I mentioned in other threads, I belive in including minoritet without forcing it down anyone's throat like Concord tried. Other games managed this with grace like BG3, and one of my favorite characters Astarion. I believe he held most of that game on his shoulders. For me it is important to mark against games that try and push a political or social agenda rather than entertaining. When a game have gotten influenced by Sweet Baby Inc, it is very noticeable. You mentioned you didn't notice Concord being woke, while it do takes a more objective point of view to see the broader picture. Maybe since being woke is the norm for you, then you don't recognize the same way I do who grew up during the 80s where none of that was even an idea. But I want to tell you about the interview with the CEO of Blackrock who said that they will make sure that there will be a behavior change in the western society. The interview is on youtube if you want to look it up. So the woke agenda is ongoing, and me personally don't want anything to do with it because the people who support it mainly just demand respect but often never want to give any. They demand the rest of the world to use their pronunces, or else. It's not news that this has been a common problem and when a game tries to push the same agenda, people will react. The games that is being turned woke because of Sweet baby inc using extortion are games that I belive should get shut down. That's why I'm happy the developers of Black Myth Wukong didn't give in to their threats. So this turned into a long wall of text ^^ But I appreciate your input and I enjoy sharing toughts and ideas even tough we might also have to agree to disagree in some areas ofc. But to summerise, I'm as a person is the one who would step in and act if I see a weaker person or a minority being mistreated. And I'm open to have games that do include. But it should never include just because of a certain skin color, gender or sexual preference. That's worse than being excluded and always should be. Include because the character is a lovable and great personality just like Astarion without pushing a political agenda.

@@davonsden You know, I used to think that big companies pushing for, I guess you would call it the woke agenda, was just a cheap move to make themselves look progressive, and thus earn more money too. But my mom actually opened my eyes on that. You see my mom is actually a kind of a veteran in the corporate world, at least for our little country I grew up in in Europe. She is also involved in some humaterian organizations such as amnesty international. She told me it actually doesn't work like that and companies are actually incredibly diverse in their opinions. So, when you see a company doing a pride month event or post a celebration tweet or other internet posts, it's actually a group of workers inside the company that fight to make the company make these changes. In short it's not a huge unfeeling conglomerate just being a chameleon and changing with public opinion. It's actually individual workers and managers in the company that fight for what they see as a better future. These experiences came to her by talking to an executive at Volkswagen. I would also add that you should not treat the woke, as a faceless conglomerate or a hivemind, was a popular term in the past. These are real people, with real stories, and they have reasons for believing what they believe. and I know it's really hard, but maybe you should look into the reasons why they actually believe in what they do, instead of getting it filtered through your groups lens. take a dive into the rabbit hole, or take the red pill as they say.

Okey.. Of course, there might be a small group in a company that will always try and fight for something.Do you think the company really wants that? Most likely, the company wished these people could just shut up and just work like any other normal person. We already have unions in the West, making sure we have rights. So, what are these small minority groups even "fighting for" that your mom is mentioning? The right to be what? The right for what? Something we don't already have in the west? And yes, most of the left nowadays are either delusional and naive, none accepting or none inclusive, or just plain extreme and evil. I guess you're in the naive category. I've had many years on this earth to witness this change, and I've been into politics for over two decades now, so I would say I know what I'm talking about. You seem young, and I don't believe you were even around back in the 80s and 90s, so with all due respect, you're the one who should try and jump down the rabbit hole. I've had plenty of time to figure out the broader picture. Also, saying companies don't use the opportunity for economic gains would also be very naive. Just for example, since the Bud Light incident in 2023, which cost them more than a billion dollars, a trend have been seen throughout companies that they're starting to scale down this pro pride during Pride Month. Companies will always choose money over pride, and they would do better if they didn't have to listen to a small group that rant about pride one month each year. Stock holders dont care about this unless it makes them money. We're living in 2025 soon, we know people in lgbtq community exist. They have more rights nowadays than most people in the world. But they will never be happy, it will never be enough, there will always be some minor thing to complain about. It will come a time when you will make your own observations Hopefully, by then, you won't act like you know it all and claim others like me are seeing things through a group lens when you're saying you see the world through a mom lens. I find any analysis that tries to frame these conversations around how woke something is to be incredibly shallow. Its very reductive to the point of being useless. It just comes down to a series of check boxes that are broadly pointless because plenty of counter examples exist

@silencer1286 The warhammer fans aren't trying to change the real world with made-up genders and pushing everyone else to accept their pronunces even into politics. Having men dressed as women to have access to women's bathrooms, or in women's prisons, or push for gender changes in children etc etc. And what is shallow is when genders, skin color, and pronunces are more important than actual talent. That's why games like this fail being made by a bunch of liberal woman that's been hired because a woke quota had to be met.

@@davonsden It’s shallow because it’s incredibly reductive. It boils down to a series of checkboxes. Is this person POC? check. Is this person queer? check. Is this person fat? check. Then it must be woke and woke = bad. It’s not actually engaging with the art. It also doesn’t seem to have any basis in reality. If something being woke or not determined its success I don’t think something like Baldur’s Gate 3 would have had the kind of impact that it had last year. The reality is Concord looked generic and the elevator pitch of “hey pay $40 to play something boring and uninspired” is not particularly appealing, doesn’t have to do with it being woke. Overwatch was woke and in the same genre, very successful. Warhammer does have real world implications I think the only difference is that it’s political messaging is something you, hopefully, agree with. You don’t have an issue with politics or an “agenda” if it conforms to your world view. I also just disagree with this framing of things being “pushed” because it seems like it just existing is apparently “pushing” you also seem to have just bought right into a bunch of right wing narratives around the topic, which isn’t particularly surprising. Do you not have real problems? Or is life so boring you have to buy into fear mongering about queer people to spice things up?

@@davonsden Overwatch was very much woke? It had POC, queer characters, characters of different body types. Very diverse. It was definitely woke. You can’t praise baldur’s gate and then in the next sentence say “go woke go broke” those are completely contradictory statements. Cause baldurs gate is woke and yet is by no metric unsuccessful. This is the case in pretty much all media as well Sure I mean Warhammer is satirical of theocracy and fascism. Which given the current political climate especially in the US of trying to bridge the gap between church and state is quite relevant. My last question was a joke, you can’t say I don’t have arguments when I’m literally making them. You also I guess gave up on arguing about the shallowness of this kind of analysis, that’s definitely a much more interesting part of this convo.

Guess you never watched the whole video since I talked about the argument you are pointing at. It doesn't hold up since Valve proved the market isnt at all over saturated. And if you gonna say "we'll the game cost 40usd".. And? Where was the modern audience that were suppose to support this game and wanna play it? Next time, watch before you assume and reply. It's obvious most are sick of the woke agenda being pushed into what is suppose to be entertainment. That's why the Acolyte also got canceled. If you don't like it, that's fine. @lasagnahog7695 While it ofcourse adds to it because everything isnt black and white, still the majority of the gamers out there don't agree it's a money issue first and foremost, but that the agenda is being pushed once again is one of the bigger problems with such games. Just recently, I saw a post about the game where there was a bragging article about Concord being the first game with a trans person in it. Out of the 5000 reactions, 4987 was laughing emoji. Money isn't an issue if the game is good and stays away from pushing an agenda up into the consumers' faces. Baldurs Gate 3 could do it nicely and still be inclusive with fantastic characters. So it has nothing to do with the market being over saturated. It's just a poor excuse to try and cover up the fact that the game failed because baby inc were involved in making this woke garbage of a game that the majority of gamers want nothing to do with. Or do you seriously still believe that woke games like this even in none over saturated categories have a future in gaming after this flop that is of biblical proportions? Do you really think people want to play games where it's important to show which pronunce a character has and flexing that a trans person is in it? Think again.
