For R.L. Allan Bibles, see www.bibles-direct.co.uk/ . Cambridge Concord KJV Wide Margin Reference Bibles are available from many outlets. Good descriptions of them may be viewed here: evangelicalbible.com/product-category/cambridge-bibles/kjv-2/concord-wide-margin/ . I have both in Goatskin. The Allen is a nicer Bible, but for the price point.. $360 vs $250.. The Cambridge is the better buy. The text is cleaner and more crisp, the center column references are easier to use and the nearly 90 blank pages in the back give you ample space for sermons, notes, thoughts and insights. I love my Allen, but if I had $400 to spend, I would buy the Cambridge, micron pens, highlighters, and a few commentaries rather than just the Allen
@MAMoreno2 жыл бұрын
I see that both of them have the 1611 translator notes, so that's a huge point in their favor. Allan also includes the original chapter summaries, which I greatly appreciate, but that doesn't make up for the absence of "Translators to the Reader," so the Concord has the advantage. I prefer the less cluttered, more modern look of the Concord text, but the Allan text is thankfully missing the self-pronunciation marks. As for the number of references, I prefer quality over quantity on that front. Both of them have their merits. I would prefer an edition with features from both editions. (I would also like for the text itself to be Scrivener's Cambridge Paragraph Bible, but I don't see that happening.)

Thank you for your continuing informative videos. I am taking advatage of this video to ask you a somewhat off-topic question, but since you seem to have more Bibles than anyone except perhaps Tim Wildsmith, you might be able to answer it. Is there a compact, nicely printed edition of the KJV without notes, wth the words of Christ in black about which you know? My go-to KHV is the New Cammbridge Paragraph edition, and it's just a bit bulkier than I wish. First world problems, eh?
@RGrantJones2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, dale. Yes, definitely a first world problem. I prefer reference editions, so I don't have firsthand experience with these TBS KJVs, but perhaps you would find one of them suitable: us.tbsbibles.org/page/storecat01 .

Always amazed by how many different versions of the bible there are in English. Due to being required to have a bilingual bible, I am always forced to buy an English-Korean Bible but the quality is severely lacking.
@RGrantJones2 жыл бұрын
Can you read it in both languages? If so, that's a very useful skill. Thanks for commenting!
@thomasc90362 жыл бұрын
@@RGrantJones I am fluent in both but the English version is much clearer. In addition, options are limited. Most are 2011 NIV for English but my church and denomination disapprove of it. That leaves just ESV, KJV, and NASB options. KJV is still very popular, but there is only ONE company that ESV and NASB, so you are limited to that. Anglosphere is so blessed to have so many wonderful versions. There is an ongoing battle among many Korean churches to stop producing NIV 2011 as the default English version. Not sure what the results are.

@@thomasc9036 - that's very informative. Too bad there aren't more quality English-Korean options.

@@RGrantJones Having two languages forces the Bible is twice as thick, so bindings get damaged easier. I recently changed my mind from CT to MT, so trying to get NKJV, but so far, haven't found any. The strangest thing is that most Korean Christians prefer KJV (not sure why considering the majority can't read it in English anyway) while Korean-Americans, Korean-Australians, Korean-British, or other Anglosphere really don't care.

Thanks for the kind comment. That’s “Lord Jesus, Think on Me.” I used a program called MuseScore, which allows you to type in the notes, select instruments, and output an mp3 file. I chose “flute.” I believe the tune is known as “Southwell.”

Hello, new subscriber here. Can you refer to me a good Catholic pocket bible? One that has both the Old and New Testament? Or, if both will be too thick, just the New Testament will do. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot!
@RGrantJones2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, Minnie! I wish I had a good answer for you, but I don't. The smallest Catholic Bible I know of is the one I reviewed here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ3FZIKiidt6ldE . It's probably too thick for most pockets, and it may be out of print.

By 2070, it will be 2000 years when Jerusalem was sacked by Romans. Will that have any religious significance for the Christians? People should study the era of 66 - 70 AD carefully. I believe, that is how (like 2nd Temple Israelite) a section of radical Muslims behaved after de-colonization post 1950s and how Christian sects behaved in Europe during middle ages and how Germans behaved during 1933 - 1945.
