Thomson 757-2G5(WL) G-OOBP | London Gatwick - Skiathos | Takeoff, Inflight & Landing

Onboard Thomson's Boeing 757-2G5(WL), G-OOBP for the 3 hour, 5 minute flight from London Gatwick airport to Skiathos Island airport in the Northern Sporades, Greece. Video includes takeoff, inflight and landing video.
Boarding commenced at around 06:00 and the flight was due to depart at 06:35, however a problem with slots at Skiathos meant that we had to be pushed back onto a remote stand for 40 minutes (was originally going to be an hour), whilst we waited for our allocated slot to become available. Once underway we taxied out to Gatwick's runway 08R where we were faced with yet another delay, this time due to a large queue of aircraft waiting to depart. After around 20 minutes of holding short, we lined up and immediately commenced our takeoff roll. After departure we headed out towards Brussels and from there we made our way southeast towards Croatia, then onwards towards Northern Greece before turning more south, descending and making a visual approach to Skiathos' runway 02 via Skopelos. After landing we backtracked and parked next to a Thomas Cook Scandinavia A321 which was preparing for departure to Oslo.
Unfortunately, the inflight section of this video is little more than cloudy skies for the most part. Most of Europe was covered in layers of stratus cloud which meant the view from the plane wasn't that interesting. This was unfortunately the problem on the way back too.
All in all, albeit with delays (which cannot be blamed on Thomson), the flight was very nice. The crew were, as always, well presented, friendly and more than helpful, always going out of their way to make the flight more enjoyable.

Amazing flight video, I really enjoyed watching this! I'm taking this same flight in May with Thomson, can't wait! Still hoping it's gonna be a 757, as you probably know that airlines are phasing them out unfortunately :( Such a magnificent aircraft! Hope you had a good trip to the beautiful island of Skiathos, look forward to the return flight video! :D

Yeah, Thomson do have some of the youngest 757's in Europe! I am extremely excited and feel very privileged to be flying on a Monarch 757 in October, it's a very old but legendary aircraft. Monarch released an annual report recently and it stated that their 757's are to be finally retired at the end of this year. ;)
