My favorite is the black horse with the 4 white socks and the lady in the dark blue dress.

Hat elastics and hat pins! Heavy duty hat pins. Lol. Not good weather for this class,I put curtain weights into the skirt of my daughters concours out fit to stop the back blowing about.

Now that's the 'class' they deserve (double entendre intended)! Boy, a big enormous canter like that must feel like a gigantic rocking horse! I actually had the pleasure of riding a retired dressage campion (18 hands) = push button horse. Loved his canter....thank goodness he knew what he was doing! I thought for sure the blue+white (dress) horse would get 1st, but they were all beautiful. The slow motion was spectacular at the end. Perfect ending. Great video again and a big thanks.

Santiago do you understand, how special Apollo is? I in my minds eye I compare him to every Shire I see. He is def up there with the elite. Your videos of this event have been awesome. I hold some of these favorites close to my heart. Keep up the good work and videos. Awesome channel. I may be bias 😳 with my choices because of my absolute love for these beauties. Regards Bon 👣

Look at you, magnificent Apollo . Just a few years ago. Who could have imagined ...? You were sickly, skeletal, in pain ... unclean, unloved , depressed ... But the truck you feared was taking you to death ... delivered you instead to Santiago ! How could you imagine he'd give you family and other horses you didn't know to even dream of ? That he would devote himself to you and make the pain stop. That he'd bring you food, medicine and at long last, vibrant good health ? That he would help you reveal the trust and love buried in your great heart ? That he'd awaken your curiosity , show you how to love to learn and to expand your life, your self worth and happiness ? Could you imagine, Apollo, that you'd be Santiago's great joy? And that he'd show you the world where Shires are treasured, and you'd carry a lady in a flowing blue gown? Congratulations on finding each other, Apollo and Santiago, I'm so happy for you both ~ Let the dream roll on ! 🌟❤️🐎

@@samporter2146 😉. I love black horses. I think the English Apollo (Friesian) had far better beginnings than the American Apollo (Shire). But it's wonderful to see they both have great lives now!

Lady in the red dress is a smoother rider - is it the gate of the horse, or is she a better rider?

Better rider I expect.

Sitting that trot must take some doing, it’s such a ‘bouncy” gait, lol
@cindyrissal36282 жыл бұрын
A little of both. Some horses (for a variety of reasons) have a trot that is really hard to sit...
@gayleklein72432 жыл бұрын
This class is a trifle confusing. The beautiful dresses are clearly 19th Century; however, ladies riding astride rather than sidesaddle wasn't a thing until the 20th Century. I suppose this is just for fun though and not historical accuracy.
@nikiryan86482 жыл бұрын
definitely should be sidesaddle. maybe someone will put the time in to learn to ride side. it is tough to change your center of balance
@cindyrissal36282 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's more like a costume class,, and anything goes in one of those...😉
@gayleklein72432 жыл бұрын
@The Lookouts I did read it. The whole thing. Fascinating, especially the part about building a sidesaddle atop an astride tree. I hadn't considered that - the skill required by a woodwright to make such a design and how it would negatively impact the horse over the long term. Your post also reminded me of something from a long time ago about how the Crusaders traveled from Europe to the Levant. The gist of the program was that heavy horses walk heavily and that the either a partially- or fully-clad armored rider would experience some pretty serious bruising on their muscles and bones from all the clattering. Figure that a full suit of medieval armor weighs between 25 and 40 kg. (55 to 88 pounds) and that this was a journey of 2,000 miles on the overland route with those huge hooves slamming down every step of the way.

As this show is National Shire Horse Show 2022, it would have been more fitting for the English flag colours to be worn and seen, as England is the Nation.

Bffffaaaaaa…. That’s funny. Shire people are farmers and country folk. They love very modestly and work the land. Lots of these horses are “work horses” that they also enjoy to ride and love. They feed their own horses and trailer them into shows, they do all the work. 🤔 that actually sounds like an incredible privilege!! So you’re right!! 😃😉

Horses are privileged pets to an extent honestly. They're incredibly expensive to care for in both money but also time. Very very very few "poor" people are showing horses, particularly at a world show like this one.
