I'm assuming you want to see how to make the molds, is that correct.

Nice video mate. I used cast frag plugs & mini rocks for colonies about 8 years ago but stopped due to a lack of space to do it which is a common problem in the UK & time plus the ceramics, which were just starting to become popular were pretty cheap over here at the time. Now I have a bit more space to work & commercial plug prices are going up I think I'll give it another go, plus I'm not sure if you mentioned it in your video but some studies have shown you get I think around 11.5% faster growth on concrete vs ceramic.

Hello and thank you for watching. Do you have any idea where I could find those studies, that would be very fascinating to me. I have been very happy with how the plugs and tiles turned out. They are very cheap to make and I have plenty of room to make them. I think they look more natural in an aquarium as well.

@@cmaquatics7428 Yeh I think they look more natural & I quite liked making random natural looking mini rocks for larger colonies as I find customers tend to be more attracted to them than something less natural looking. I’m afraid I’ve forgotten where I read most of the articles although I have managed to find one which I’ll paste the link to bellow. I know there were other studies, one of which used calcium carbonate bonded together in layers with something but my memory is terrible. I dare say they’ll pop on Google.

Thanks for the info I will look into it. I also started making and gluing aquascapes together. People really like those. So far all the corals I have put on the concrete plugs have encrusted and are growing great 👍

@@cmaquatics7428 Sorry I just realised KZbin removed the link I posted for you so I guess they don't allow links! Heres the name of the study I managed to remember if you pop it in Google it should come up: Differential Effects of Substrate Type and Genet on Growth of Microfragments of Acropora palmata

Awsome!!! Thanks a lot for the info I will be sure to check that out tonight! I have about 2000 plugs I'll start curing today. First warm day to do it.

can you make a video showing how too make these molds
@cmaquatics74282 жыл бұрын
Hello Luis. I don't have a reason to make another mold right now but if I do I will do a video. If you go to allumilites website they have instructional information there. Thank you for watching.

I cure them for a minimum of 5 months now and then test the water. If the ph is still high they go back in for another month.

I cure them for a minimum of 5 months now. If the ph is still High after that they go back in for another month. I continue that process until the ph is back down to my base reading.
