There is a good Wayne Perkins inteview in whch he talks about that recording session - I am sure you can Google it. Basically he was never part of the planned record - he just happened to be at the studio at the same time, and ended up getting roped in to doing some lead work. He had never even hear reggae before, but apparently he hit it off with Bob, and after (I think) the third take, Marley came out of the engineer's booth with a huge smile on his face and gave him a bear hug. :.)

Not true. During the catch a fire album creation Chris Blackwell wanted a guitarist who could play like a rock guitarist so that Bobs music would reach a wider audience that’s why he brought in Wayne Perkins as a session guitarist specifically for that reason. When they began to tour he brought in Al Anderson for that same reason.

Al Anderson's solos are always the best! This guy managed to improve what was already good (by Perkins, a masterpiece solo). All Al's solos are improving it. Always!

Nice compilation 👍👍 The best live solo for this song imo is from Babylon By Bus in which I believe was Al Anderson on lead, but Wayne Perkins studio solo still has that magic that can’t be reproduced live with that studio feedback from the reverb. One of the best guitar solos in reggae music to this date

Me too. I bought the DVD through amazon and cannot stop watching it over and over again. It was also a very long concert. Shows you Bob's heartfelt selfless passion for music!
