Paint the skull a bone colour and black-wash it to highlight the faults. It’ll be pretty cool. Nice job. Certainly gave me something to consider for new decorations.

Heck yeah, those voids give it so much character!! Leave it alone!!! 😂 Your 1 extra step was putting the lights back under it. Awesome job!!

The voids make it look so real....like it was excavated from some ruins! Amazing (even though I detest halloween...love autumn but don't care for halloween). The trick-or-treaters will love this one.

I think black dye in the mix and then painting it white once de-molded would highlight the voids. Also painting a tooth gold would be cool. Too bad the lights don't shine through the voids

It does look good! The pores and badly stacked cement give it an extra real look! Throw some cement acid on it, will give it some nice colors!

That came out pretty good. Now make a sturdy silicone mold from it and a strong fiberglass shell so you can cast it over and over...

It looked awesome once you took off the plastic! Great job! And yes the voids and mistakes add character!

For reusing the mold, some sort of ratcheting strap around it probably or use some scraps of sheet metal to get it back together. I repaired a plastic patio chair that way recently and now it's sturdier than ever. I also think it looks good with the voids. If you make it heavy enough it would be hard to steal also.

Very nice! Now all you need is a hand coming up from the ground and it would be spooktastic. ☠️

I'd suggest wrapping tape along the top and bottom perpendicular to help keep the halves in place for a second attempt and give the tape that's going along the cut more support to keep stuff together. Maybe a more fitting tub/crate/frame to also brace the halves in place. Would love to see if a second go works out. Love the idea of reusability with molds.

Awsone project. For one step further. Drill 1/8 inch holes down either side of a couple voids and bend small pcs of wire in a " [ " shape and bridge them over the voids like stitches. I've Done this over a wood turned egg to make it look like Humpty Dumpty repair job.

I love skulls so much that I went to Walgreens and it all happends that they had 2 skulls like that left from Halloween. To top it off, they were just placed on a 60% off just as I walk to that section. I'm planning to cut it in 4 pieces that will be held by something (don't know yet) in case I decide to do just the face or the complete skull. Will try diferent concretes. BTW, it's my first time leaving a coment. Awesome channel! You have a distance student from Puerto Rico.

I thought you would cut the plastic off along the cranial lines. That way you could put it back together, looking like it was meant that way. Perhaps you could make mortar pieces of each cranial section, then put it together like a puzzle or arrange it like a smashed skull.
@randylush731827 күн бұрын
put some wood around both edges and screw the two parts together for a mould.
@fhuber75072 ай бұрын
about half fill the trash can with sand or pea gravel and it's a more stable base for working on the skull.
@fhuber75072 ай бұрын
I would have also sawed the skull on the mold parting lines, then duct taped it together before adding concrete/mortar, so the mold would have separated easily. Easier to chip off a mold release line than to deal with grooves from sawing the mold apart. Tape would have to wrap the skull, at about eye level and again below nose, plus from nose around top and down the back of the skull. Not just be on the seam.

You can reuse that skull if you got those "L' shaped plastic things and glued them to the mold. Then use a little bolt and wing nuts to hold it together . Make a dozen. . Paint it up like those Mexican skulls, go crazy!!
I wonder if you cut the plastic skull first and duct taped it back together. 🤔 Would it fail, or be easier to remove.?
@brian8wellington2 ай бұрын
The plastic skull looked really cheap and kinda lame. Now it's awesome, and I want to make one for myself. I'd bet that you could reuse it. You might need some bungee cords or straps to keep it together since adhesives let go with heat.

Miss your stuff. Ignore all negativity. Just do what you do. More concrete ideas (Videas) more color, more walkways... more wall skills like "faux" rocks. How about some cool multilayer waterfalls andca river and pond? Watching you made me build my version of this. (50ft. river and 9 waterfalls) all concrete. You inspired me, so, ignore any "haters".
