Wow nice side-by-side Christmas gift from the family! But I think the grandkids are going to use it more than you will. What great memories you and your grandson are making together.

Hi Tom, I’ve done several epoxy tables and each one is a learning experience. I use the same deep pour epoxy and use a paddle mixer in a drill on low as well as scraping the sides as I go. I set a timer and actually go a little longer. I can’t remember if you checked the moisture content of the wood, but it’s really important. Ideally only use kiln dried lumber, and even then, check it thoroughly. I know you heat the shop, but ambient temp plays a big role in curing. Fiberglass Coatings, who makes that epoxy is really helpful with technical service. They got right back to me last time I reached out.

You have everything set up level on that door. You could get or make a router sled (lots of youtube videos) and with a surfacing bite remove the bad epoxy and refinish it

Just a thought on the door - go to harbor freight and pick up a cheap electric hand plane - will be cheaper than a sheet of good skin plywood, take very shallow cuts to remove the top skin of epoxy, and then you can sand smooth and poly the river side.

An enclosed side by side with heat would be preferred . You should put a protective cap on the exposed positive battery post to prevent your wrench from contacting it and ground and causing a spark. A spark can cause a battery to explode.

Have you tried wiping the uncured areas, on the door, with xylene? Xylene is one of the best solvents for epoxy.

Tom, do you ever run a magnet through the oil to see if there is any metal in it? I had a '73 Chevy Cheyenne Super 10 years ago right before I got married. It started missing bad, so I did that and there was lots of metal in the oil. I sold it instead of having that problem on my wedding days. Turns out it was pieces of rings out of cylinder #4 and pieces of a couple valves. How fun that was riding your new side by side letting your grandson drive. The most, best memories of my life involve my kids and grandkids. They truly are gifts from God. Love that never stops giving and receiving. Now, I never dreamed you'd have this much trouble with that door. This is crazy. I've absolutely no knowledge or experience with this, but I just knew you would handle this with ease. I'm really anxious now to see you figure this out. A true mystery to me. You're pretty good working with one hand, holding the camera with the other - thank you. That means a lot to me. Pain to you, pleasure to me, so thank you again. Getting the oil filter back into place with oil in it was tricky. Looked like you had no trouble at all. I too, think it's a good idea to pour a half quart of new through the block to help remove any particles that didn't flow out the first time. For sure didn't hurt anything!! I like watching the machines getting serviced. It leaves me feeling good, even though none of the machines are mine. But it does, really, makes me feel good. The huge winter snow that came up from the Gulf Of America completely missed my house - thank You Lord. Did you see where Bill Gates came to Trump's house and they had a meeting!!!??? WTH??? Oh man, that can't be good. It happened just before the inauguration. Just after that meeting the two main vaccine people RFK hired to safe guard us from vaccines, got fired, Oh man, this can't be good. As much as I like Trump, He is after all an Oligarch. Thought I'd leave you with something to think about. Thanks Tom, I enjoyed the video. I can't wait to see the door completion.❤

Here is a better way to change the oil. Get a shop vac put it where the oil is put in, turn it on and then get down below open drain plug and then turn off the shop vac. I seen someone do that on their excavator and it worked fine. Do you have a portable sand blaster to use on that door? Not sure if that would work or not but cover up the part you don't want to do it on.

I think leaving the + terminal on is safer because there's no connection to the ground if the filter or wrech contacts the + terminal.

Not enough hardener. Thoroughly mix. Play with your mixes and go a little heavier with hardener. If it was deep poor epoxy just let it sit longer. Needs heat. Everyone goes through that.

Power mixing with a drill is recommended with epoxy for 2-3 minutes on medium speed. Scrape sides and mix again for 1 minute. Use a Jiffy Mix paddle to avoid extra air entrapment. I would not hand mix again.

Morning Tom, Looks like I'm 5th in line today. It's been worse 😂😂 A couple of comments. You can bet the genius that designed that engine NEVER changed a single filter. Until manufacturers require these brain dead people to actually work on THEIR work, it won't get any better 😢😢. Good time to clean both negative and positive battery terminals and throw a little Fluid Film on them. Finally, the door project----either scrap it totally or just start over. It's been fighting you and you can only repair things so many times before it looks like crap. It's not a criticism of your ability by any means, but like anything there is a learning curve. This is why I've never tried this and have NO desire to. I consider myself a pretty competent WOODWORKER and not a plastic worker. Either way you go, I wish you the best. 😊😊 Coming back for an addendum. Trust me when I say that in my 68 years I've had projects, like "your door" that went bad. And in all honesty it was at that time it became "PERSONAL" and I didn't care what it cost, I was going to kick it's ass. If this is what this has become, then go at it. Had I have been been smart enough to heed my own warning, well you know the end.

I love Toms videos but I can’t watch anything with him working inside that shop. My ocd gets the best of me. Man that place is nasty! Surprising, usually guys with nasty shops and trucks typically doesn’t take a lot of pride in there work. However Tom seems to do great concrete work.
