Concreting Over Concrete

In this video I show you how to concrete over concrete and what depth you need which is a minimum of 3inch of concrete. I was trying to marry up with the existing concrete but didn't have the depth there for the concrete had to be broken out along the edge of the existing concrete giving me the depth I needed, at first I thought I'd have to take out all the concrete but once I got some levels set out I only had to break out along side the existing concrete, which was a result.
The average depth of the concrete was about 90mm to 70mm , I also put a expansion through the to stop the concrete cracking out , I used a concrete edging for that & I also put in some 12mm thick reinforced mesh in each concrete bay.
The concrete married in perfect with the existing concrete, it had a tamped finish and all edged out with a Marshalltown edging trowel,
Tip : when concreting on a slope try and get the concrete mixed to the right consistency having it to wet will just make it run on you and cause you problems when laying the concrete

Great job. What is the thing you put in to divide the concrete? I think you call it edging. What is it made of? Thanks

Cheers mark nice one 👍👍👌yeah I used a concrete edging to make an expansion joint they were ideal and match in with the concrete pathway they measure 6"ich deep and 3foot long I used them to form the pathway to ,thanks for stopping by the vid mark and the sub to really do appreciate mate have a good one 👍👍👈.

Can you concrete over old concrete without weather getting under it over time? What depth would you say from experience is the shortest you can concrete over old concrete?

Ivan : thanks for watching man 👍, when you concrete you are making a seal that the surface water will not penetrate throw there for the concretes main purpose is doing its job to stop water penetrating underneath and taking any surface water away, if you have cracks in the concrete then water will seep through the cracks and over time weaken the concrete as the sub soil will start to diminish, if you are concreteing over concrete you got to make sure the concrete your concreteing over is sound if it's not you got to take it out and get some nice depth on that concrete , thanks for the feedback 👍👍👍👍.
