Good afternoon. I’m very happy to have come across your videos to educate us about concussions. I sadly have my 3 children ages 7, 6, 4. Going through concussions symptom. Is a very overwhelming frustrating and heartbreaking situation. I would really love to share our story to hopefully get the help my kids can use to heal their brains but also to help bring a lot more awareness of the symptoms to look for since children are not easy to be understood because of the lack of understanding of themselves and lack of awareness and the environment and activities that they have to enjoy themselves not making it easy ti prevent this terrible situation we have been living with this situation for 4 and half years. I know want to do anything in my power to help my kids stay safe and hopefully prevents any future damage being done by the early injuries to their brains. My husband is older and he worked at a psychiatric hospital for 10 years helping adolescent with their behaviors an other mental problems. He was the one to find that my so at 19 months had a concussion. I could not see it. I didn’t have the same observation skills at the time. 2 years after still going through it but because my husband was constantly educating me about the symptoms that were connected to his concussion, I started to realize that my son the older one that at the time was 3 and half had also had a massive fall from 3 or 4 steps down the stair because my mom forgot to close the baby gate. I started to think back at his behavior and realize that he also was going through a terrible time an we never help him prevent further injuries later on he get diagnose with ADHD and mild autism. Unfortunately his head injuries are still going on and the only thing that help him is that he has been a tall kid so head to head with kids at the class was not an issue. But he does have a lot of energy so running and colliding with other kids has been his brain injury consequences. My daughter 4 year old fell from my bed to a hard wood floor right on her right side of her face causing very bad bruising on her eye for weeks but she didn’t seem to have many symptoms but after 3 weeks of that at her school a teacher was playing with baskets ball at her preschool and happen to hit my daughter on her head causing very aggressive behavior, right after that day when I picked her up she started to chase my 6 year old at that time 5 and had the helmet that I put on her to prevent head injuries and she put her aluminum water bottle inside the helmet and strike my son on her head with it. Cause another injury to a on going concussed child. They constantly fight with each other and is very hard to keep them together because they can injure themselves by hitting heads or throwing things at each other. Of pure of all this terrible mean behavior only happens when they brains is damaged. So you can only image the type of life we have been living preventing the unknown and being their shadows to make sure they will be safe at home. When my daughter is in school and my 7 year old is at school I’m very worry to hopefully nothing happens. I feel that this information is so valuable and can prevent future children suffering and adults suffering with unknown pain, behaviors.
