I bought some Catsan( Kitty litter with moisture crystals) from Home bargains £5 put it in a pair of old Nylon Rugby socks tied the ends off and sit on the dash on an old towel overnight collects a surprising amount of moisture, then I put on the radiators at home to dry out. I also run the A/C in the hot temp zone for ten minutes every morning it dries the car out clear windows all around.

Hi, great videos. In the winter we have a lot of car moister/condensation problems. I prevent the windscreen from geting condensation by polishing it inside and out. I do it to all windows of my cars. If sometimes the kids let a bit of the window open, the moister makes everything sticky. The steering wheel, the gear stick, etc. This bag is a great solution to prevent it. I will definently try it!!! THANKS 👌

Rub shaving foam onto the interior glass, leave to dry and lightly buff with a cloth till it’s clear. Don’t rub too hard or you will remove the dry coating. No more foggy windows

No more foggy windows .. for a while. Anti-fog coatings don't actually stop condensation, they simply spread it out in an even layer across the window so it's no longer visible as condensation. But it's still there and it's silently washing the layer off. It can buy you some clear time, but it's not a substitute for proper ventilation and keeping the windscreen scrupulously clean.

@@willsvanadventures Yeah, a 1992 AWD Dodge Caravan. This past season I filled the back up with a double bed, but I plan to make a more versatile build in advance of dirtbag season this year. I found the condensation to be trickiest when I sleep in the van when it's close to or below freezing. My climate is fairly dry in summer. I only lived in it full-time from August to October 2021, with about 3 weeks cumulative from November to January. I plan on being full-time again from May to October 2022. The thing is, when my car has been sitting there for a while, it doesn't really get any fog, but as soon as i get inside, humidity rapidly accumulates and i cant get rid of it. If i blow my A/C in my windshield, it keeps it clear, but all my other windows get extremely foggy and vice versa. And it get worse the colder it gets outside. And if I go on the highway, i literally cannot see. What to do?
@willsvanadventures2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yh so as you mention once your in the car, the moisture in your breathing will cause the condensation. Best thing to do is try to angle your blowers so they are facing the other windows and also crack some of the windows to increase airflow. Then wait until the windows are clear before getting on the highway. Once driving keep the blowers on as well to ensure the windows stay clear.
@SwatPooky952 жыл бұрын
@@willsvanadventures i let my window open (about 1cm), so it creates enough air flow when driving for now. So i think it might be my air vent/flap that might be stuck in the "recirculate" position.

just put your webasto diesel heater on ventilation, adjust the fan speed to just maintain a positive pressure, have the two front windows cracked underneath the wind deflectors, leave it on all night, while you are asleep, to drive the moist air out of the van to reduce condensation, throughout the night.

Set to recirculate to speed up the heating, then crack open a window to let the humid air out. And those bags are often full of activated charcoal. Overheat that in the microwave, and you risk a sudden fire.

@willsvanadventures2 жыл бұрын
How long did you wait? It takes a while for the condensation to clear, once gone you'll need to leave the blower on for a while and then it'll go. Ventilation is the best way to solve it.
@papasmurf30242 жыл бұрын
@@willsvanadventures . 4 years, i virtually live in my converted van. I have wind shields and leave the windows open, also a 16inch roof vent i leave cracked for ventilation. Nothing stops window condensation, all you can do is clear it. Starting the engine to clear it is slow and expensive. The karcher does it in a minute. Also a good idea to put a thin folded bath towel along the bottom of windscreen to stop condensation running down behind the dashboard and causing electrical faults.

You'll probably need to leave it on for a while. Keep it on while you're driving and once it warms up a bit it'll clear.
@andycowley7979 Жыл бұрын
I'd disagree with the resuscitate button. If you use it in conjunction with AC then the air will be dry and warmer than the outside air. I use all your recommended setting plus resuscitate in the winter and it de-fogs the windscreen within minutes...
@willsvanadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey, but you want dry air inside the van as you want to eliminate the moisture within the air that's causing the condensation. Have you got a caddy as well? 🙂
@andycowley7979 Жыл бұрын
@@willsvanadventures no caddy no berlingo. The AC will dry the air being recirculated. The air outside is also damp and colder.
@unoxunox4086 Жыл бұрын
the hint with AC and circulation is good. i can imagine, that the water is condensating at the AC. But the air is only circling in the cockpit. If you pump fresh air into the car, it travels through the car, and pushes the humid air out in the back too.

this is dumb. if you have condensation, you have a moisture , ventilation, and insulation problem. This goes for home applications too, especially with double glass, lol. if your windows become foggy and insulated, there's way too much humidity inside, so you need to get rid of moisture, and that goes through extraction - meaning ventilation. additionally, the barrier between 'inside' and 'outside' is not enough for cold to enter, meaning to little (dry) heat. absorption is not a solution. elimination is the key. you need to eliminate the entry of cold. hence, isolation is not properly done. ventilation, again is also a major problem. the accumulation of humidity also happens because of humidity buildup inside - thanks to for example sweating, breathing, and or accumulation of other humidity (cooking, for example). this is why in a normal car, if you have your ventilation off, aircon off, all windows closed, AND your ventilation channels closed (that recirculating button), you quickly fog up the windows. So how do you classically get rid of that? yes, ventilation, but secondly, HEAT - evaporation, but you still need ventilation. so increase heating, increase ventilation, and increase insulation, and the problem is gone. you will need increased heating to deal with the need for increased ventilation anyway, as higher ventilation will evidently cause a loss of heat, but ventilation is paramount. these 'moisture bags' only work for a daily driver in the morning going to work and back, that's it. your car is not built to be a 'residence'.
