Hats off to both teams for a great game, but a huge FU to the home plate umpire Bill Miller. Way to completely dictate the game with your gross incompetence and egregious strikezone. If there was ever a game to be to be the impetus for an automated/electronic strikezone, this is it. Bill Miller is an absolute farce as an ump and should be ashamed of himself.
@lukemorosini47 жыл бұрын
They really do need to move to automatic strike zones eventually unless they manage to really raise the quality of umpires. Their incompetence can really affect a game. Even if the bad calls go both ways it still ruins it a way. And this is just from a fans perspective, must be more frustrating for the players having to deal with these clowns.
@Prkwon7 жыл бұрын
No kidding. literally half of the strike calls were out of the strike zone. Maybe it's just me but especially Dodgers pitching were affected in key moments.
@AL_K_7 жыл бұрын
This makes no sense. It was obvious that the strike zone was expanded by Miller...but guess what? A larger strike zone is a big advantage to the pitchers....ummm 25 combined scored runs. The expanded strike zone had nothing to do with the outcome of this game. There were several good out of the strike zone pitches that hitters clobbered. Blaming Miller for anything is a giant fail !!!

Haha sore Dodgers and Yankees fans can't find anything to blame but umpires. Sore losers how about the Dodgers blowing a 4 run lead then a 3 run lead and they left runners on 2nd & 3rd with only 1 out in the 8th inning. They have nothing to blame but themselves. If anything a larger strike zone from the umpire would have helped them.

@redbug34857 жыл бұрын
Lord Beasley It's really rare for a 5 hour game. The game pushes the limits of players and fans, and that's how long it takes. It's the same in other sports just not as noticeable.
@WhereIsTheIntruder7 жыл бұрын
It was a ridiculous, 25 run, extra innings game, in the world series. A 5 hour game in August is a problem, not a game like this in the WS.
@americangiant10037 жыл бұрын
I am with Lord. Even though 5-hour games are rare still the half inning breaks between commericals along with the endless pitching changes/visits by both club probably added as much as 30-40 minutes to this otherwise instant classic. Going forward 1) MLB really needs a shot clock for pitches 2)If Umpiring does not improve asap by next season just follow tennis(used for lines calls for at least 10 years now) and go to an computer to determine strike zones. This game was a classic (not the best ever as too many bad umpiring and skipper decisions by both teams ruined it)but ending into the wee hours of the morning (East Coast time)especially on a night majority of TV viewers have to work or go to school is not a good way to grow the sport for younger kids. MLB really does need to bring back at least 1 late afternoon WS game starting at say 5pm(East coast time)and all other games start no later than say 730pm ET or 430pm on the west coast for 1st pitch for the world series.
@Prkwon7 жыл бұрын
i agree with you one hundred percent. I personally think games especially in the weekends should start earlier. 5:20 start is too late for east coast and also not exactly early for west coast either. I miss the days when a pitcher who are doing fine stays in the game. I personally think Clayton could've gone longer, but no DR had to micro manage something that isn't necessary.

You have the Dodgers vs Astros, home crowd, umpire and MLB. You Dodgers have battled the Astros like no one has at their home this postseason and are just shy of winning. This tells me that you guys have all the fight needed to beat them these next 2 games. Your bats are alive and well to finish it at home. P.S. Screw the MLB for making the balls slicker. Now you have dominant pitchers getting pounded because they can't find their sliders.
@KWCline916 жыл бұрын
Sweaty N Ready you say that like the Dodgers were the only team to take the Astros to the limit. I think you might’ve forgetting the Astros we’re battle-tested after playing the Yankees in seven games. LA had no trouble going 7-1 prior to the World Series and that was both good and bad.
