I really like the incorporation of Aikido and gym training, makes me much more interested in going to the gym. I have to remind myself that while Aikido may not rely on strength, it never said strength isn't important. O'sensei himself was known for his strength. Thanks Sensei!

Excellent !!! This is much needed and having a regular segment is something I would encourage. I’ve done these same movements using heavy bands. 1. For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction. 2. Posture improves tremendously ( tai sabaki ). 3. Cho Shin Ryoku improves tremendously because you feel the sticking points in your body movement combined with your technique ... you know exactly where uke is going to be heavy ! 4. Kokyu Ho ( breathing ) improves. Breathing, posture, body movement all become more fluid. Timing becomes better. 5. Kernel training was a fundamental game changer as well. I played football ( OL ). I gave up heavy lifting in favour of strength and speed. Here’s the kicker: my power came back ... only better ! 6. Take up some type of cross-fit training. I’m not a cross fitter ; but can you do bear crawls? pull ups? pistol squats? Lift rocks? Push and pull sleds? Flip tires? Be fit! Be functional ! Train like a Spartan ! Osu !!

Couldn't hit the gym yesterday and can't today either. But, I did just try this out using some resistance bands and I can already see the value of this exercise. My bands aren't really strong enough to provide enough resistance for muscle building but they did show me a couple of places where I tend to give up my balance. Even a light pull against you is enough to take you off balance if you aren't careful. Trying this with real weight this week.

I’m a former hapkido practitioner, which is similar to aikido in many ways, has most of the same locks, and currently train mma. I’m hesitant to try lots of throws that I know because I understand they are more wrist breaks than throws, and I can hurt someone badly if they don’t know the correct ukemi. Which throws do think are suitable to be done on people with poor ukemi? Ones that are fairly aikido-istic. I’m trying to incorporate more unorthodox stuff into my style

Kokyu nage if you can get the right grips and kuzushi (may be harder without a gi) Irimi nage if you can pull it off Koshi nage is good, though that may end up looking more like Judo, depending how you get into the hip throw Juji nage and tenchi nage are good if you can make them happen You can potentially use Aikido locks as submissions, standing or on the ground (bottom guard, top mount) rather than throws if that's more your speed. If they ukemi, so be it. But if they tap... standing or anywhere else... that's the end of the match. And if they do get a broken wrist... well, maybe they should not be doing MMA if they're so concerned about not getting injured. If you correctly apply Nikkyo, it should be extremely disruptive (they'll very likely tap) while also having a low risk for injury. Same goes for Sankyo applied correctly, but I think Sanyko is actually harder to apply correctly against resistance, and the risk of injury is potentially much higher. BJJ positional rolling is a good proving ground for learning to incorporate Aiki locks against resisting opponents who may not understand ukemi or the techniques you're trying to do to them -- that's my main way of pressure testing Aikido, but not my only way. I've never broken anyone's wrist in BJJ. People tap pretty quick when they feel a lot of pain they don't understand, in my experience. Regular BJJ sparring is not supposed to be a deathmatch anyway.

Very interesting excercise. Thank you. As far as TENKAN is essentially basic technique I have some questions which will be great to answer in following videos. 1. How does front foot and knee works while doing TENKAN with preliminary sliding? As I can see you leave your front leg is in uncomfortable position in the end of move. Front foot looks to the right with big angle to the center line plane in the end and the shank is inclined outside to the right (if right leg is the front leg) while moving. 2. Where is position of wrist while turning? Is it right over the knee (shank) or it can go inside or outside of shank line? 3. Should the foot and knee turn with the body while doing TENKAN to look right to the UKE center line?

In regards to food consumption, I highly recommend 1 lid (if it comes in a bottle) of black seed oil per day. It keeps your stamina under rigorous physical activity and decreases recovery time by factor of 10.

The only problem I see, is: you automatically get into a pulling motion. However during e.g. Gyakuhanmi Katate Dori you want to put pressure on the contact point into the center of Uke, and not pull him. But for an exercise once a while I guess it is ok.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS135 жыл бұрын
Ok you don’t understand this. I’m not pulling at all and I clearly demonstrated that I’m NOT pulling. I showed the difference between pulling and turning. Maybe you missed it but watch it again.
@angeloschneider42725 жыл бұрын
@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 Of course I understand it. You are not pulling with your arm muscles. But you are pulling the weights up. In a correct application the weights would be static!! But you are pulling them up!! And in the end your arm (actually during the whole exercise) would/should put pressure into the contact point, with the goal to nail the feet of Uke to the ground. You are forcing the Uke to move forward. Just look at your own video and see the weights getting lifted up: that is wrong! The only benefit of your exercise is to learn the structure of the body, but the flow of the mechanical forces is in the wrong direction ... no worries we sooner or later meet somewhere and I explain person :P

Very creative. Good shit. I disagree on just a few points. First, it's not "cable resistance". It's weight resistance. The cable just attaches to the weight. Second, from what I see most claiming to be martial artist are fat slobs. The Martial Arts in America have become like gold. This is very problematic for me 'cuz I take this shit seriously. And if one claims to be a martial artist whether they understand this or not they are claiming to be a Warrior. And a Warrior is required by code to maintain combat readiness. I see a lot fat MacDonald eating slobs w/ colorful belts, but not many Warriors. And let me just add I see some skinny knobs who still aren't in shape. Lastly, it's good your shoes don't slide. That's more realistic.
