No but my Wife purchased the Condor 2 backback for me for my birthday! Sootch did a very good job on the review and we are well pleased! In addition, we purchased the insulated water bottle holder with molle attachments. I recommend that folk's purchase the molle straps when adding attachments.

This is my main pack and I simply love it! Besides hiking with it, I also load it up with groceries when I am riding my bike from the store, and I sometimes put 30-40 pounds in it and do bicep curls with the carry handle (this is the life of a college student haha). Maxpedition sure knows how to make a solid bag!

I bought this pack off of Sootch's review a couple years ago. I bought it as my primary work bag and it is loaded up with 25-30 pounds w/out waist strap for 5 days a week. After 2 years, the pack has developed some significant, but not terrible wear. The seam connecting the bottom of the shoulder straps has began to tear, as it has on the top of the shoulder straps. One of the drainage grommets had popped out. Other than that, the bag has worn very well and I would recommend it to anyone, but I

Ive had it for 2 years and have used it almost literally every day, and there are no seems popping, no fraying, or anything bad :)

@sootch00 I couldn't agree more, I use my condor 2 for everyday highschool and it is loaded to 20 plus pounds every day(I put it on a scale to confirm). My siblings have gone through 2 backpacks this year but my maxpedition will last me for the rest of my academic career. Thanks

I have the Baby Condor. MaxPed discontinued it in 2007. It's a great pack with great quality and durability. I wish they would bring that one back.

1000 denier is pretty good and I don't know how high they go with backpacks, but I will say that I remember from my retail days way back when that a lot of suitcases are 1500 or even 2000 denier. You get what you pay for though, and luggage is expensive
@BrianJacobson13 жыл бұрын
I am always amused at the people who goof on you for promoting Maxpedition gear. Yes it's a little pricey but after owning a few pieces of it I can say it is definitely a step above most others out there in quality. A lot of times in life you get what you pay for and for me paying a little extra for something that is going to last a LOT longer is money well spent.

depends on how u pack and wat ur taking, for 4-5 days i would go with the vulture 2, but even then its gonna be on the small side, for a bob type scenario trip this would work, but most of ur room would b gone once u packed a sleeping bag and food for a normal trip, i have this bag and i have tacken it backpacking in the summer using a small cotton sleeping bag liner instead of a normal bag, and a tarp instead of tent, but it was only a 2 days trip and space was limited

Another great review, Sootch. I used to sell MaxP back when I had my retail company...hands down the best quality stuff out there available for the civilian market (and sometimes for the military). I own tons of MaxP stuff, and have never been disappointed. Lots of my friends and coworkers are on to it now too. Keep up the great vids and reviews!

Donnie, Go Vulture, Unless you are an extreme minimalist camper. So you can keep most of your gear inside the pack and avoid to many attachments( extra weight). I have the condor 2 and I can't really fit the extra clothing and sleeping pad together inside.-Hope that helps.

@purkjason I'm not sure about the Maxpedition stuff, since it seems like it's all unnecessarily heavy, but I think a lot of people like to look for what works best for them. What the military needs may not necessarily be ideal for everyone.

Before anyone grabs this pack based on some of these reviews. If you check out maxpeds updated website this pack is now listed as 1350 cu in. The lady from maxped said they were wrong from when they originally measured the bag at 1950. The updated measurement of 1350 is now listed, WOMP WOMP. I would have jumped all over this bag had it been 1950 cu in

Hey sootch, IYHO what would be the difference between a 2day pack and a 3day/BOB pack? Typically, I have a side satchel that contains just the basics but with my knowledge I can take care of up to 10 ppl, on the otherhand my BOB is very much the same but I add a few more pieces of medical kit (sutures, extra bandages,antiseptics) and maybe some prepackaged food stuffs. So tell me, what is your definition of what makes a good day pack and a good BOB?

I'd like to see a post about adding accessories to the bag. I've seen other people demonstrating the Maxpedition line, but because of you I've bought several of their products from them. The sootch00 site is one of my favorite sites to check regularly. On the Condor II that D ring strap on the front is where I'd like to attach a pouch of some sort, if you could give a recommendation I'd appreciate it. Thanks

@sootch00 So I can understand why so many people like the mil-spec gear. It is incredibly durable, modular and organized. However, in the prepping community, that is what everyone goes for. Why doesn't anyone seem to go for gear from like EMS, REI, Northface or the like? In a SHTF situation, wouldn't that lead to greater discretion, and allow you to blend in more? Thanks for the advice, and awesome review!!

@purkjason Couldn't agree more. I have 3 backpacks I use for hiking and storage/bug out purposes. Two of which cost me 80-120 dollars. The third, which is by far my most used, highest quality a favorite back is a digital camo bag I ordered for 35 bucks off Amazon.....go figure!

which do you think is a better backpack the condor ii or the falcon ii for a 2 to 3 day pack (bug out bag)
@CantoniaCustoms6 жыл бұрын
They're both equally good, the condor ii is short and fat but "hugs" your back making it very comfy. However, the condor II only opens to 2/3. The falcon II appears to be a bit slimmer and opens fully (I have no comment on ergonomics of the falcon as I only have the condor).
