Thank you amazing video Stop sign is only octagonal sign, so you can recognize it even if it’s erased or from the back for opposite lane At every intersection, check if you have a stop sign, if you don’t have a stop sign or the view is blocked by a large parked car, check the opposite side of the road to see if oncoming direction has a stop sign. IF THEY HAVE A STOP SIGN, THEN YOU HAVE A STOP SIGN TOO BECAUSE MINIMUM IS TWO WAY. Pedestrians have priority at stop sign, you wait for them to finish

This is interesting. Regarding 5:20, where you mention waving the pedestrian across the street, I was taught to never do that, according to Young Drivers Of Canada in BC. This was about 23 years ago. We were taught to wait for the pedestrian no matter what, even if this was between intersections on a busy road, if I recall correctly. Maybe the rules are different here. I usually try to use my instinct. If the pedestrian is at an intersection, and has the right of way [e.g.: walk signal or was at the intersection before me], then I would wave, but otherwise I would probably go first.
@ConduiteFacile
@ConduiteFacile 4 жыл бұрын
That makes no sense. So if the pedestrian doesn't want to cross the street, you stay there blocking traffic? If the pedestrian doesn't have right of way, yes, you should go first. And pedestrians are not allowed to cross between two intersections, unless there's a crossing there.
@eugenetswong
@eugenetswong 4 жыл бұрын
@@ConduiteFacile yeah. In and of itself, there will be problems, but it also creates more bad behaviour, when it encourages pedestrians to do it again. Another thing that I don't like about what they taught is the idea of turning left into the leftmost lane. This causes problems for drivers behind us, when we need to go into the right lane soon after. The drivers behind us might be too close for us to merge, and they will be hard to see in the mirrors and definitely in the blind spot, while turning.
@dominicfong6341

Hello Mr. Wong: I am from BC like you too, that's what I have heard too. And we as drivers shouldn't be waving any other road users either!

self notes: stop at stop lines and every stop sign, regardless of people being there or not. Stop at stop lines so you can't see it once yo stop the car, then move forward to verify for people. pedestrians have priority at stop signs, dont cross stop line if it's part of crosswalk, and you dont have priority instead of them unless they give it to you.

Giving a way to the pedestrians is very important. When someone behind you is blowing their hoRns while you're giving a way to the pederstrians or to your fellow driver, ignore it. Blow their hoRns until they want to. Safety is the best priority.

That's very interesting. In Brazil we slow down, and we only stop if there's another car coming. But unfortunately there are a lot of people who don't respect and don't slow down, they go straight without looking, even though the preference is for the other car.

When stopping at a stop sign before a turn, do I have to creep ahead in a straight line to see better? Or do I have to turn slightly in the direction of the curb? My instructor just tells me to creep forward straight and then turn, but my dad insists that I’m doing it wrong and that I should turn in the direction of the curb as I creep up. He says that it’s because when I stop at the line and creep straight, my visibility is zero and other cars don’t see me.
@ConduiteFacile
@ConduiteFacile 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the situation, but in most situations, your dad would be right. I do talk about that in one of my videos but I don't remember which one. However if the turn is too tight, you might have to go straight, or else you won't have enough room to turn.

I'm 42 and have been driving since I was 16, but yesterday I came to a 4 way stop with stop signs where I pulled up at the same time as 2 other cars. Very rare scenario for me. I was sitting there with my left turn signal on for a while, and the other drivers were just sitting there. I was waiting for them to go. I didn't want them to honk at me, and I was pretty intimidated. Nobody was behind me, so I backed up and turned around so they could all go and I could try again. Came back to the intersection and another car pulled up across from me at the same time. Again, my left turn signal was on, didn't really know what to do, didn't want them honking/getting angry, and I was waiting for them to go but they were just sitting there. Nobody was behind me so I backed up and turned around to try a third time. (No I'm not an idiot/stupid, I have a 124 IQ.)

5:23 is wrong. if you give them the sign and they’re crossing and a car hits them from either side they can say it was him who signalled me and that’s why I was crossing. The best is to just stop and if they signal you to go you just go.
@ConduiteFacile
@ConduiteFacile 3 жыл бұрын
If that was anywhere betwen intersections, you'd have a very good point, and I plan on talking about that in a future video. However, in this situation, it's at a stop sign, on a one way street. Nobody can hit them from anywhere, unless a vehicle is driving the wrong way. And even if it wasn't a one way street, drivers have to stop, so both them and the pedestrian have plenty of time to analyze the situation after I offered them to go. But in the middle of nowhere, you're absolutely right. You should never stop without a reason to let somebody pass, especially kids. Unless you yourself have checked for them if it's safe to do so.
