Please, do not forget the 10.000 italians who volunteered, fought and died for the Confederacy. The militia of Louisiana had an italian guards battalion, later renamed 6th Regiment European Brigade, and other companies within regiments from Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee and Louisiana. The following link ( www.ustica.org/genealogy/italian_brigade.htm) lists names, ranks and even residences of 341 italian nationals who served in the italian guards battalion (Confederate Army). General William Booth Taliaferro served in the Confederate Army as well as the commanders of the 6th Regiment European Brigade, Lt.Della Valle, Captain Marzoni, Captain Santini, First Lieutenant Marinoni and Second Lieutenant Baselli. Thank you from Italy for remembering them.

Bravo! Captures the spirit of the Confederacy exactly. Well done, boys!

I try to imagine how the Confederate army would have looked if there was not a Union blockade preventing cloth and other materials for proper uniforms.

All war is stupid regardless of who starts it or ends it.

Probably a lot like the French army of the period. If you look at the regulations as depicted back at the beginning of the war, the uniform styles and colors borrowed heavily from the French.

Lincoln provoked the firing on Ft Sumter by not abandoning it.....His excuse for raising 75,000 troops and invading the South. The Constitution says states have a right to succeed.....Didn’t the pilgrims succeed from England?

Outstanding, Lads! Would you please post a performance of the authentic "Reveille?" All I can find is the modern call. Oh, and the period "Tattoo" would also be great! Keep your powder dry.

Any history buffs wanna explain the use of fifes? Like did they use them in battle or just to march??
@rebsarge2 жыл бұрын
I don't know that the fifes were used to give commands in battle, but I do know their sound will pierce through the roar of a couple thousand rifles, and it's a sound you'll never forget!
