I'm a 65 yr old woman and not a mechanic. 5 years ago I Had an old pickup that the heater core went out on. I needed that pickup to get to and from to work as a housekeeper at a small hotel. It was a bitter winter. I watched DIY videos. I bought a replacement heater core. It was only 27 degrees out that winter morning. I plugged my electric blanket into an extension cord and draped on seat-to keep me from freezing while I leaned over-upside down for a few hours at a time and between breaks to replace heater core-without pulling entire dash. It worked great. I had several tell how awesome that was, even a few mechanics said they could never had done that. If you have a brain and can learn, you are Limitless

I commented on his video not to bash, but to point out a flaw in his advertisement of a gold and silver group. However, I stand 100% behind what You've commented on here that we need to remain in union with one another. The enemies greatest tool is to separate and divide groups even within their own groups or cultures to wield power over them unawares. Pointing out a different point of view is not and should not be taken as bashing rather enlightening us to another perspective that we can thus learn from together. Whether one takes that knowledge as useful or not is completely up to them. That's the beauty of individualism that these crony gatekeepers as he calls them fittingly hate and want their collectivism to be the ruling statutes in our lives. Be well.

I don't know if I mentioned on this channel before but as a kid, my dad built a solar heater for our house out of black painted beer cans and river rock. Cooked us out of the house-2 story-in the winter to the point that some days we had to crack open windows to regulate the heat, Had a small windmill on top of his Ham radio tower that ran our lights and fridge. He would remove the windmill in late fall and replace it with a giant wooden star that was covered in Christmas lights. Everyone in town loved it. These things can be done cheaply. When our river house went under in 2017 we had to completely gut it. To hire someone to rewire, re plumb, and remodel would have been outrageously expensive and out of reach for us. Spend hours and hours on KZbin. Wired the whole house myself, replumbed the whole house myself, and remodeled the inside ourselves. Tens of thousands of dollars saved. Plus we learned so much. Point is if you live in an area where you won’t go to jail to do so, DO IT. You can do it.

My husband is a master electrician. He was responsible for basically memorizing that NEC book when it came out every year or so. It's a law in the state we were in, that a current copy be on hand. That book cost over $200. Most of the code is something to make someone money. It's hard to explain, and yes, there's safety discussed, but many of the rules and regulations have something to do with making one of their friends money.

As an actual Electrical Inspector, I agree, for the most part. Homeowners can learn to install their own electric adequately. It is difficult for a layperson to navigate the code, but there are plenty people online willing to help. Unfortunately, some of the best locations for good advice are set up as a pro-to-pro discussion forum. Electric is nothing to take lightly, and there are things in the code that I believe address very unlikely safety hazards (but ones that exist) that do more to help manufacturers make money, than keep people safe. Just make sure you don't just listen to any yahoo on the web.

I grew up on a dairy farm in upstate NY. We had a tractor powered generator as a backup for milking the cows and cooling milk when the grid was down. We had a 3 way switch that allowed for the generator to power the farm without back feeding the grid. The same system could b used with solar panels and batteries to power a homestead. Also that would allow a homestead to generate power to the grid and be paid by the power company as another source of income. The power company would also install a back feed blocking switch to keep your panels from feeding the grid if it went down. If the grid went down you can just switch to your batteries and still have power without feeding the grid.

Tell that to any building department that forces people to pay a fee to have them approve a set of plans that not only have to comply to the UBC (Uniform Building Code) but also now to the IBC (International Building Code). Many of the rules for division of spaces such as garages are based off of the NFPA codes and all testing of those products are overseen by the NFPA. It is all a follow the money and power trips people are on under the guise of "health, safety, and welfare". I am an Architect and have watched the codes creep in ever more invasively over the decades. My son is a fire sprinkler installer as well. You will have no shortage of work in the future - coming soon to every house near you.

@@karenc7476 I don't care for cpvc/residential work and avoid it at all cost. I will drop some knowledge here regarding your comment. Those codes you speak of only apply to commercial property. Imagine you need more calcium, just bake and crush eggshells and add to the fodder biscuits after a few days of growing. 3:40 Spot on!!!!! I once explained to a girl that I have far more nutritional knowledge than a 4 year nutritionist due to my 10 years of Automobile University (listening to cds in the car) and she just looked at me like a deer in the headlights, lol. I have no degree. I don’t need one!

It took us 3 months after moving to our land to attempt setting up our solar, because we were concerned about doing it right. It can be done but it's intimidating.

It seems like I have a memory of Cody Wranglerstar once talking about how everytime he did a project around his property some busybody would turn him in to the local building inspector. There's a jackass in every person's circle of influence! I appreciate what you do Zach! God bless. P.S. When are you going to put out more Torah videos on your other channel?
