I don’t do that well with scary stuff. I don’t watch horror movies, I don’t go to haunted houses, and I don’t play horror games. Well...for the most part. There is one horror game series that I’ve always liked: Five Nights At Freddy’s. It’s unique, colorful, and way deeper than you initially expect. And over the years, I’ve had a pretty interesting history with this series. Fun Fact: That shot where Bonnie is staring directly at the camera is actually some sort of throwback to one of Scott's nightmare when making the game. He said that he had a nightmare where he was defending himself against Bonnie. Just a little fact.

FNAF will always have a special place in my heart as I couldn’t stand anything horror until I began seeing videos of it. I mean I was still scared as heck at first and could cover my eyes when I expected to be scared, but as time went on I managed to get more entertained by it than terrified and it’s helped me begin watching horror movies and other scary games.

I was in a pretty similar situation. I was never allowed to play the games so I just watched KZbin videos about them and I’ve become a huge fan of the franchise because of these videos. Very recently I finally built up some courage to ask my dad if I could play them and he said he didn’t care so I’m finally going to play these games!

Admittedly, I'm in the exact same boat, I've seen tons of lets plays, done my deep diving into the lore, but when I tried playing FNAF 1 on mobile, I chickened out. I still get caught off guard on occasion if i'm absent minded-ly listening to a play-through in the background, the noises, they get to me sometimes.

Heres some tips (i only played fnaf 1 and 2): fnaf 1 keep checking pirates cove and check door lights shut doors when needed. Fnaf 2 consistently shine flashlight and use vent lights as well as wind up puppet and after winding up puppet immediately put on freddy mask

I have the same relation with horror; I hate it and won’t sleep for days if I learn more about it but occasionally I just find myself drawn to a certain horror thing. Like I watched half of your everything you need to know on Five Night’s and was like “Yep I’m already not gonna sleep let’s stop there” and the next day I was like “oh gosh I will be so scared if I watch anything horror related” and then proceeded to watch the second half. I have a weak will and even weaker courage.

As someone who feels the exact same about horror, I’d just like to say that you are not weak being scared, nor are you weak for caving and watching the second half of FootofaFerret’s Everything You Need to Know About Five Nights video. If anything, those things just go to show 1. That you are attuned to yourself enough to recognize what content scares/upsets you, 2. That you have a great curiosity, and 3. That you’re actually really frickin’ courageous, since courage is not lack of fear but rather the ability to face fear, and the fact that you were able to watch the second half of that video despite knowing that it would scare is honestly a sign of great courage rather than “weak” courage. Don’t feel like you’re weak just because you hate horror and don’t like being scared and upset by it. There’s nothing weak or pathetic or laughable about knowing your tolerance for horror content and not wanting to subject yourself to content which scares and upsets you. At the same time, there’s also nothing weak about pushing your own limits with the occasional horror content that gets your attention, so long as it’s your own choice to push said limits. And so long as you take care of yourself afterwards and not actually do real harm to yourself. Apologies if this is a bit too feels-y and serious of a reply to your comment. It just made me feel very strongly because I relate a lot to that hatred of horror and occasional strange fascination with certain horror content and have struggled a lot with thinking that it’s weak and cowardly to not like horror. Hope you have a great day and that you indulge in some content that’s comforting and not related to horror so you can get some proper sleep.

I've done something really similar. I basically haven't played ANY of the games except for a little bit of 2. My cousin and I would trade off the ipad when ever one of us died. We also made a rule that if you caught the puppet in the act of leaving the box you got an 'extra life'; not really sure where that came from. For anyone wondering, yes we did eventually catch the puppet in the act of leaving the music box.
