As always, you all put together a well made and informative video. You probably mentioned it in a previous video, but I hadn’t realized Tractor Basics was owned by Skid Steer Solutions. I have not been disappointed with any of the partners/vendors/suppliers you’ve recommended and your trusted work and trusted research saves your viewers time from having to do our own extensive research.......How much water is in the pond this week?

You could take the front vertical angle iron pieces off of the shipping pallet then add some caster wheels. The result would be a dolly the you can store the tiller on. I try to make dollies for all of my implements. It makes storage much easier.

I have a 4 foot 4 tine per flange chain drive tiller and love it. I just build a house and used the tiller to landscape around the house and i hit so many rocks, i just open the rear gate and watch them fly out the back, four broken tines but the chain is fine, plus id rather buy new generic chain and sprokets at any store then break a gear and try replace one of those, i have never ever had a problem with chain drive so i will continue to buy them!

For greasing surfaces like splines, bushings, and PTO shafts, I have the tub/can of axle grease with a flux brush in it. The flux brush is just about perfect for putting sufficient grease on with out any excess on you...I already get greasy enough off the FEL joints.😂

I have heard you say how much time it takes you to get ready for a job. Loading, unloading your tractor. Well I did my first job free just see if I like doing it. Really like that you can remove that PTO shaft guard on the tiller from the outside, wish they were all like that!! My "cheaper" tiller had a plastic guard with bolts that mounted it to the face of the gear box, almost impossible to get your hand, let alone hands, in there to push the spring bolt over to release the PTO shaft. Course I didn't remember that that shaft had TWO spring bolts for some reason, that you had to push at the same time, to release the PTO shaft...... Fortunately the guard was plastic.... which came off in several pieces...... which allowed me to see the TWO spring bolts 🙄. Now I will need to make a better guard for it, hopefully before I am going to use it in the spring. Had to remove the PTO shaft for a longer one, as I wanted to be able to use that tiller with the quick hitch this year (and in the future), as the shaft that came with it was just long enough without the QH the first year. 49HP tractor with extendable rear links, needs longer PTO shafts as it is...... things you learn later with ownership of a tractor, that you didn't know might be a concern, as PTO shafts that come with many rear attachments seem to be on the short size, for the "larger" compact tractors. Always happy to see the kitties around!! Have a good one!! 👍

On my Kioti DK I can just pick up the implement first and then rotate the driveshaft to get it on. I helped a neighbor put his tiller on a 1023 Deere and we had to do that, but it was pretty hard with such a small working area.

Just looked at the gear drive tillers you talk about in this video. The spec sheet shows 20-40HP for the 48”, and 25-40HP for the 60”. The spec sheet doesn’t specify if that’s the PTO horsepower, or the tractor. I’ve got an LX2610, but have been holding off on a tiller, as I plan to upgrade to an LX3520 in the near future, as the extra horsepower will be useful for some other attachments I use, and I’d rather buy a tiller that is well matched to the future tractor.

In uk we would call that a rotavator, they were pretty common for vegetable hrowers in the 70s and 80s, some companies still make the larger ones for large scale vegetable growers and some potato growers. Whats the idea of thr extra hitch frame on the linkage??, why not put the rotavator on the link arms?, i have seen those frames on larger hp tractors that dont Have linkage arms as such. Great video

At the 10:50 mark of this video, it shows your wheel weights. I have the same weights and got them through my JD dealer (70 lb). I see this in your situation as well, but those weights have no relief in them to allow you to get access to your valve stem to check the air. I asked the dealer and they could only say it’s the correct wheel weight for the tractor. I’m thinking of machining the weight to give me access. What are you doing to get valve stem access?

Just me but when something is steel frame packaged and has metric fasteners I tend to question just how "American Made" it is.Shockingly some "manufacturers" will bring in an import unit,do light assembly,fill it with oil and call it "American Made". Show me the factory to convince me. And it'd better have more than a couple of screw guns in it.
@Drew-in-NoDak
@Drew-in-NoDak 7 ай бұрын
That thing is definitely not made in America. The packaging screams china, and the cheesy short head metric bolts on everything also are Chinese. I bet you this Tiller is in a similar situation to Edison motors golf cart call out. For those that don't know, at the fully charged show they found a company claiming to make golf carts in Canada. And selling them for over $30,000. They found the identical golf cart on Alibaba for only 2000. All that company was doing was assembling them and slapping a made in Canada sticker on the side. They even got one of the employees to admit that it was just cheap Chinese stuff.

I have a Frontier 49” tiller for my 1025r. It’s cheaply made. The manual is for three different tillers and the chain case has an upper hole/plug to put fluid in and a lower plug for the level. So I buy some gear oil as the level was down. I dump and fill to the lower hole. Next day it’s all over the floor. Come to find out the 49” has no seal and the chain case will not hold oil. The other bigger models in the manual do have seals on the lower bearing. So now I probably will destroy that bearing as it’s soaked with oil running in the dirt. Sure enough on the tiller label… Made in China. Not happy with the frontier product! And to lube the chain I take the top plug out and pump some grease on the chain as it’s turning.
