The first few moments of this video stood out to me because I genuinely thought that in order to be more confident in myself, I had to be better first. So I would watch all these vids on other people's personalities and speaking styles to 'better' myself, and I felt like I had to earn something before I can become confident. I just want to take a moment to say that I really appreciate you and your vids, Julien.

I do at one point too. Then as time went I I learned who I was and wasn’t for the first time and felt a certain assuredness in that. A quiet confidence. I was never allowed to be me so no wonder I had no esteem or confidence. I had no baseline or foundation of self. But then I learned thru some heavy lifting who I am. And sorry my father but it’s not a carbon copy of you like you absolutely insisted on by withdrawing if I wasn’t. I say that to say this …. It’s a game changer when we can finally in life (my 40s) say yes I know who I am. We get more acquainted with that person and see all the good we offer. If it’s not for someone else that’s okay and I expect it won’t for everyone. It’s usually the people who don’t have their own true self figured out. They want you exactly how they want you to make themselves feel better. It’s easier than dealing with a confident you with boundaries that you uphold

I suffer from some extreme social anxiety. Hats off to that man over there, he is so braveee!!!!…I remember being obnoxiously loud, talkative and having lots of friends to hang out w/. But over the years I stopped mixing with people, even going out on a daily basis is a struggle. There are times I completely isolate myself and stay confined to the walls of my room. I guess I have become a hikikomori. It takes up a lot of courage to go outside. My social anxiety is so bad that I’m even anxious around my close friends. It has affected me a lot. I never type a comment, cuz like my mind keeps on telling me that everyone hates me…I just recently found out about this channel. And I’m so grateful that I did. I’m really looking forward to be myself again. Thank you julien so much, you are doing a great service to people who are struggling. Your vids are awesome ❤ keep it up…!!!

If you want to,consider looking up Marisa peer or John kehoe. Both explain and give techniques for taking back control over your mind. What youre imagining may be the source of your issues. Thoughts and feelings create actions. You can consciously use your imagination to create any thoughts and feelings you choose. With repetition, you can write yourself new thoughts with new feelings and result in new behaviours.

The question "Are you good enough?" without any context asked with a proud and interrogation-like attitude is strange to me. Are you good enough for what? That's the normal answer for this vague question. Good enough to be a Systems Architect at Amazon? For myself and most others, definitely not. Good enough for professional football? Again, for most of us, no. Good enough to breathe, be alive? For most of us yes, just because we are. Accepting who you are is good and necessary to be confident, like the speaker, but it doesn't mean we are ready to pilot an airplane. So... be confident by being honest and accepting of self, yes, but then to be more confident, we have to honestly grow somehow.

00:00 🚀 Confidence isn't about adding more; it's about removing distractions. 00:18 🎭 Instead of trying to be "better," focus on being authentic to yourself. 01:13 🎯 Trying to boost confidence with tricks can lead to presenting a false self. 02:41 🛡️ Genuine confidence comes from highlighting who you truly are, not masking it. 04:32 🌟 Real confidence doesn't need external validations or achievements to feel worthy. 06:09 🌱 You are inherently good enough just by being yourself. 08:30 🔄 Letting go of societal expectations and self-imposed requirements is key to self-acceptance. 10:06 🌍 The goal isn't to change yourself into someone ideal; it's accepting and embracing who you are. 12:01 💡 Validate yourself internally rather than seeking external validation for self-worth. 14:00 🚫 External validation won't fulfill you; true self-acceptance comes from within. 16:29 🔍 Self-love isn't about doing affirmations; it's about releasing self-hate and accepting your inherent worth. 18:06 🗣 Effective communication is more about how you feel about yourself than what you say.

I am, what I am, what I am and I am good enough. Follow your excitement. Your joy. You will feel good. You won’t care about others opinions, or perceived opinions. You will find, all along, it was always, and only your opinion that truly mattered.

That part about making myself the goal of everyone else to aspire to was awesome. If everyone wants to be like me then it all of a sudden becomes ok for me to have my challenges (anxiety, depression, etc). Well it actually reminded me of the couple of days right before I get my period. I start getting down in the dumps, super emotional to where I feel like I’m losing my damn mind. Then my period starts and it explains away everything and I feel like oh that was just a natural part of the process. Everything’s fine! And I am soooo relieved haha!

I absolutely love your authenticity. But seriously, you made me relate myself to the sun. When does the sun shine the brightest? When the clouds are removed. Those clouds are different for everyone, whether it is self-deprivation, unattended trauma, harmful vices, etc. When those are removed, you shine bright without the validation of anyone or without the permission of anyone. The sun suns and people peoples. You are you. Embrace it. But of course there’s nothing wrong with a few clouds or storms, as long as you are okay with them. Haha Thank you, Julien!

Hey Julien, at around 1:50 I love the point you are making that people pump themselves up and try to put up a high vibe all the time (could be a happy smiley face all that time) and that's scamming. But at the same time, I remember in some other video that nobody wants to be around someone boring and monotonous and that makes sense as well and so you should be able to bring up that charisma even when you're in your head. This seems a little contradictory because both seem correct. One thing says: Take up more space and share joy and happiness and bring up the vibe, be loud and charismatic! The other one says: Nothing is ever worth compromising your authenticity so if you're feeling anxious, you shouldn't scam people by being superficially charismatic and high energy. What paradigm should I consider whether both holds true and the contradiction breaks?

I feel like you’re viewing this in extremes. Because time is added into the equation, you can be yourself, and feel aspects of both, depending on when it is.

There's a way to be both at the same time. You can be confidently anxious. Usually people pretend that they aren't anxious or they withdraw, both because of shame. If you remove shame and unveil confidence you can be confidently anxious: You are open about your anxiety, you even joke about it etc.

Self-affirmations are like falling asleep, you have to do it without force, or else it has the opposite effect. By the way, I think it's alright to hide parts of yourself if it's for other peoples sake. Insecurity is basically when you refuse to take all your pain on yourself - and make it everyones elses problem by constantly signaling your needs, which is actually a kind of begging or manipulation

Very astute to see the strongest self as the authentic development rather than one chasing external things. A better you is you proper, where you'll find a desire to love authentically that will change what needs to be changed from who you are, for who you are, with what you know should be, and of course, not changing what shouldn't be.

Its not bullshitting, as much as its more like ad libbing. You gotta address the individual persons, and figure out the direct approach. Theres always that disconnect inbetween, that moment of decision and hesitation.

@Julien But why doesn't more equal to confidence? Genuinely I have felt this. I waited for more to come but that just added to my stress and my low self esteem to the point that nothing made me happy or confident. Why is it that it is only at our absolute dumbest that we find confidence and freedom?

I either don’t agree with Julien on this or he is not concise in his preach. I believe almost everything Julien talks about is not confidence but specifically self confidence and this seams to be what you describe. Confidence stems from competence but confidence can also exist without competence however with one the other is likely to follow and the growth is exponential. So more does equal confidence because a man who smells good and has a lot of money will have more confidence then a man who doesn’t but they both can have equal self confidence. Everybody hates Andrew Tate but the dude has some amazing takes and one of which is the idea that money amplifies who you are. If you were a dork then you’d become a dork with a lot of money and all that comes with it but still a dork. You want to become “the man” when you have nothing so you’ll be “the man” when you have everything.

The example starting at 20:00 / 20:14 is exactly the type of situation I often find myself in because the words don't come to me, even though I know what to say in my head. I blame this on autism, do you have any advice on how to better get a grip on it?
