The jet, one of a batch of 16 the company is building for Bahrain, is also the first new-production F-16 in the Block 70/72 configuration and is expected to make its first flight early next year.

Every Air Force Base that I've been stationed at, including the one I'm at now, we call them F-16 Fighting Falcons, the official name that it was christened! Viper is a Marine corps helicopter, designated, AH-1Z! We don't want to be associated with the Marine corps, that would be stealing the name of their helicopter! F-15 Eagle, F-16 Falcon and F-22 Raptor, all named after raptors, not snakes! General Dynamics who manufactures the F-16 officially christened it at the time, Fighting Falcon! Having said that, I want to thank the United States Air Force, Boeing and Fairchild Republic, for giving me the opportunity to fly the most magnificent aircraft in the world! Pilots had dubbed the jet the “Viper” after the fighter spacecraft in the TV series “Battlestar Galactica.” Many pilots wore “Viper Pilot” name tags. Leadership demanded the pilots remove the tags, but the unofficial nickname stuck. The AH-1Z first flew on 8 December 2000. Bell delivered three prototype aircraft to the United States Navy's Naval Air Systems Command at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in July 2002, for the flight test phase of the program. Low-rate initial production began in October 2003, So even unofficial the F 16 was being called the viper before the Marine corp had the AH 1Z

At the airbase over here we have all kinds of magazines and books, from the past and they always called it the Fighting Falcon and we will continue calling it that out of respect and I don't even fly the F-16! If somebody change the name of my aircraft and named it after a snake I'd be pissed off! I'm curious, and I know the answer to this, how many jet fighters do you fly and I'm not counting paper airplanes? Let me guess, none! The worst thing you can do, is try to school a fighter pilot and make yourself look foolish to millions of people on KZbin! F-16 is one of the greatest GEN 4 Fighters built. In fact, many believe it could Equal Itself in a So-Called GEN5 Chinese and Russian close up Dog Fight. HOWEVER , they would need to "Follow" Advanced US Stealth Fighters if Mission is Close to Today's ADVANCED AREA DENIAL SYSTEMS . ...as Russian S400 and S500.

5 generation jets are to expensive and slow in production to most countries to be use in massive numbers, its completely different way of using them, while the world still need 4 generation jets - not so expensive and easier to operate and produce, so f-16 still has big future, this is lesson form Ukraine. US or France or other big producer can control other countries and their military power even by not selling them things like modern tanks, fighter jests etc. this is how military advance works.

I absolutely love the F16. In my career I worked with various military aircraft, but mostly supported the amazing F16. Maybe there are more capable A/C but I think the F16 is not only capable but probably the most beautiful A/C there is.

The internet keyboard know it alls do. Those in the community know better. The latest block 70 did get the name viper before that their falcons. The hearsay rumor Mill says Oh they've always called them that, BS I was in the community in the '90s and it was not called a viper. It might be in passing but there was no official patches or merchandise that I ever noticed.

it would be a nice video, but it's quite annoying the narration repeating block 74/72. There's no block, 74, you surely meant to say 70 - still I doubt you didn't have noticed the mistake before uploading the video; even if that wasn't the case, as the "block 74" is spoke quite often, you should have noticed immediatly after publishing the video. For the sake of correct information and the credibility of the channel, the video should have been replaced with the due correction. Quite amateur and a bad image for the channel. Also many of the 70/72 use CFTs (Conformal Fuel Tanks) above the wings - that can be removed, but gives the plane extra fuel without using "weapons" hardpoints - and none is seen here. Very poor video. Hope you can improve.

F-16 has been a fantastic fighter, there is no doubt about that. But now is there a more modern and better fighter available. I talk about SAAB GRIPEN C. You Americans love to talk about all the bling bling you equip the F-16 with like it would change how it turns, how it´s visible on the radar, how expensive it is to fly, and how it does against GRIPEN in realistic exercises like the RED FLAG. Let´s go straight to my point, F-16 and F-18 are both obsolete, since 2006, GRIPEN always wins against them. Facts are available on the internet if you want to know the truth. GRIPEN has countless hours practicing against Norway (F-16), Denmark (F-16), and Finland (F-18). Now, are they all changing to the very impressive F-35A. But that will be another comparison. I stick out my head now, all Nordic country's fighter pilots are extremely well trained. Nordic fighter pilots' training is very similar. And still, Sweden wins every time. You can find it yourself but I will mention a typical practice where 3 SAAB GRIPEN had three runs against 5 Norwegian F-16s. The result was 5-0, 5-0. and 5-1 to GRIPEN. There is a load of false information spread by "loyal" Americans about SAAB GRIPEN. I think we all can benefit from the truth. Even if it hurts.
