I'm not sure what oil you've ran in the r33, but some oils, like castrol, just stain parts because they find it fun.

Castrol edge is a great oil.

Hi Sam, just a few tips from an engine reconditioner. Be careful when removing and fitting cams (rbs are bad for it) the thrust part that was making it difficult to remove break very easily. Undo and do up the caps evenly and it should come out nicer. Also if you're doing cams I'd suggest getting some springs while it's apart. Try avoid any valve float issues in the future. Also the cam caps are numbered from factory, so it might have been the first time it's been apart

Double check the chuck on your drill is 100% straight before determining full fault on the valves. My drill would make anything look bent.

dont crap them from the "drill test" se how they r in the valve grinder and take a decision then. and the valve stem seals fails if the engine run "old oil" it will chemically change and start to harden seals and gagets. so "dont run long oil interval's"

Take your time on the 33 and do it right and really make it something special and give it what it deserves being that it's your hero car. I'd love to see new paint, 33 front end, fully restored engine bay and engine/ suspension, undercoating and a interior re fresh

Lol there’s a ton of those OBD readers that you can link to your phone. All the ones I’ve used don’t require paying a subscription fee to unlock features. All the ones I’ve used showed everything possible. TPS input, timing, fuel ratio, O2 sensors, CEL light, ABS light, knock sensors etc. They were all less than $100. Only problem I encountered was if you used it on one car and then plugged into another car it would throw everything out of whack.

They obviously didn’t change the valve stem seals while they worked on the head. I’d guess they just lapped the valves and set lash after decking the head. New seals wouldn’t have blown after three years with abuse. They would’ve lasted longer if they were new.

At DKPA on the street where the illegal drifting takes place I am assuming they have camera's all over and can get license plate number and therefore all the driver info ? lol, using your drill to observe "valve straightness" is a mistake. Your drill, like most, have a high probability to have built in wobble as they arent made to very high standards. "RB Doctor". Thanks for making sure I avoid your clinic.
