A few months back I went out to lunch with my boss at the local Panera. While sitting there, I heard this dude (hard to not hear him with how loudly he was talking) on the phone, talking about all the renovations happening on his house, how much money that was costing him, the new car he was buying, and the vacation he was planning to take his family on, blah blah blah. After ending his loud ass phone call, he looked over to the table next to him (directly in front of me) and struck up a random conversation. At this table was a mother and daughter that was just starting college, eating lunch and talking about daughter's job and how to afford college. This dude starts telling them all about how he retired his wife at 21, how his "business" is exploding and he's looking for people "just like her" to join his team and be the next top earner.....My stomach dropped. It took all of my self control to not interrupt his pitch and tell him to leave those women alone. After he left, I walked over to them and told them what he was actually doing. I told them that he is not an actual business owner (hence why he NEVER named the company), he did not retire his wife at 21, and he is going to try and exploit them for their money, time, energy and value. I begged them to block his number, not to meet with him and definitely DO NOT join his "business". Unfortunately I am a crier and had to fight back tears as I talked to them, because I know the damage these MLMs do and hate to think of a mom & daughter being taken advantage of, just for having a conversation about college and the wrong person overhearing them! UGH makes my blood boil! My hope is they didn't meet with dude and are avoiding all other people that pitch them this garbage. Keep up the good work Marco!

This was great Marco! I was in amway for 2 years. What she did was “posture” herself by acting naive at first and then flipping it on you to ask you what you know about the company. These people will say in business plans “we will meet with about 10 people and only decide to work with 1 or 2 people” making it seem like it’s lucrative. Yet once the prospects leave they have a training session for the “IBO’s” and basically rally them up to get more guests to these plans so that their upline can hit a new rank. Bribing with “what you do for your upline, your downline will do for you” smh

Later when I was about 29, I was approached again outside of a gas station because I was wearing a business suit 😅. I had a conversation with the guy and told him the truth about the industry. He refused to believe it but we kept in touch. We're still friends today (I'm 37) and he no longer does Amway 😅. He never made any money! The recruiter isn't supposed to tell the mark it is Amway. They say, "I own my own consulting company helping people make money in business." They have a slogan for the bait and switch. I can't remember what it is called. It is something about interesting/intriguing. I can't remember. But that was very unusual. I had an old friend from junior high try to recruit me and my husband. I had zero idea what she was selling but I sensed I was being set up so I never took her up on the dinner invitation. I had a friend who was very socially savvy and had seen all sorts. We told them all the hints we had about my old school friend's business (Christian/sorta, conservative, business consulting, secretive) and in unison they said, "Amway!" So we were forewarned. She got dollar signs in her eyes when she was around us.

I was new in my area and met a neighbor whose son was the same age as my toddler daughter. I offered to get together and she turned me down flat. I was like okay, we won't be friends. Then about a year or so later I run into her and she is so sweet and saying we should get together. She had started selling MaryKay. She bugged me all the time to go to her parties and I tried to make it clear to her that my skin was under the care of a dermatologist and I didn't like MK. She never stopped. One night I decided to show. My husband told me not to do it. I ate a couple of stale peanuts and drank a Diet Coke and then her friend takes me into the private room to see what I would buy and I had planned this all night. I said, "Oh I don't want anything. Nope nothing." She acted so embarrassed and nonplussed. I don't think it ever happened before. I remembered being young with no money, and I was the one embarrassed because I didn't have the money to buy their crap or try to appease them with one lipstick. It was liberating to unapologetically buy nothing. She never bothered me again.

So, musta been tough recruiting during Covid,eh?
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley14 күн бұрын
@@jeffreysheridan5205 Actually, sadly, no. MLM's exploded during the pandemic. Social media is a huge way to recruit people and many who knew nothing about MLM's got sucked into them. However, after the pandemic ended and people began to realize that they weren't making money, an exodus began to happen. This, plus more anti-MLM content becoming available online and going mainstream like the LulaRich documentary helped people to realize what MLM's are. It's why we've had quite a few collapses of MLM's since the end of the pandemic with this year seeing the fall of some pretty big ones. The companies themselves may still exist (some, not all), but they've had to get rid of the MLM aspect and now, all reps are only compensated for their own sales and do not recruit. I personally still won't support those companies, though. Let 'em burn 😂

Then told me how she’s starting entrepreneurship with a “mentor”. What I didn’t know at the time is that when they’re recruiting, they’re not allowed to talk about the “business”. I thought it was a potential real friend, she even took me to church with her and we went for lunch together. Then she eventually told me to meet with her and her mentor to discuss the business, where they still wouldn’t say what it was and gave me a bunch of books to read. It was super awkward. I left feeling so confused and uncomfortable. Then I googled the book when I got home and figured out what was happening. I was sooo hurt and disappointed because I thought it could have been a genuine friendship. I called her and told her I would have to return the books. So sad that people do this.

After, they tried to manipulate me, telling me that they paid for the videos so that I could get trained, but in the end, I never asked them to pay for anything, so I have nothing to feel wrong about. Seemed like a super nice down to earth family man, even talking about god etc. Maybe it was his way of creating a false illusion of his character, ended up researching amway after our presentation and called off the next meeting. Red flags went up once he started describing how the amway system worked.

Hey Marco! I just came across your channel after quitting an MLM roughly 3 weeks ago. I just wanted to shared my story about my experience with a pyramid scheme. My best friend and I came across another channel dissecting an MLM company we were apart of called Smart Circle. Luckily for us after learning how shockingly sinister these companies are we immediately quit. We didn’t leave alone, we shared this video to 9 other of our co workers and helped them out. We found out things that were going on at our office as well. The people who expanded out from D.C to the town I currently live in were actually struggling to maintain the “opportunity” they praise. We found out they were sleeping in the office, we took notice that these people maintained poor higiene, and so much more that I wish to ramble more about. Currently still unemployed, I’ve dug deeper and realize that there are multiple MLM’s around the world, and it sucks that many young people like me are brainwashed from these companies. The problem is much bigger than the office I was at, and i’m glad I was able to help the majority of the office escape their “system.” Marco, I thank you for being able to fight to the best of your potential to help expose these pigs in our world! Thank you!

Thank you for doing this. I was sold on this when I was like a 19 year old kid. Not that I am a victim but this would have informed me instead of wasting my time. You have saved countless others.

Dear Macro, Last year I was with Amway, eventually I left because of your video and the pressure my "upline" put me under. I was try so hard to recuit my own best friend into the company. I try to sell him product and how the company "change life". Good thing our relationship remind good despite after all of that. I couldn't imagine losing him because of some fucking scam. I still cannot believe I almost scam my own best friend. I thank you for spearding the truth and awareness of the shitty MLM market. It is ruining many lifes and the number can only continue to grow. I am absolutly love your work, KEEP IT UP MAN

You should have told her you knew about the tool scam. That would have let her know you were the real deal.

Got approached like this at target - got complimented by a guy who also was well dressed. We start talking about what we do, I start bashing amway and MLMs - he gets quiet and says that who he works with 😂😂😂 we exchanged Instagrams, but once I realized he was inviting me to "exciting marketing events" I blocked him and left it at that. Great story Marco, keep up the great work 👍

MLMs are like dumpsters; you try to trick people into believing that living in a dumpster is okay so then you can move up to live in a better dumpster.

Wow, much respect for being so blunt with her. Some friends of mine tried to recruit me into this, and I denied of course. But I’m watching them get jacked by this scheme. Hoping they get out soon.

Def watching this, got approached by a guy in the gym, asking me about workouts and we got to talking, seemed cool, older guy, thought I made a gym buddy since I was new there, he contacted me a week later asking about opportunities that I'm interested in, but kept talking about this opportunity, but never gave a name, when he finally did, it sounded ok, but then did my research, I'm like nah this not going to work for me, I'm 34, you can't entice me with what I'm suppose to do to earn these large amounts, listen to those speakers, that only take about motivation, not the actual work, one of the last things he said to me was, " that's why we like to recruit younger, older people don't ask questions"

I'm glad i stopped myself from going any further. Literally just yesterday i met up with my "recruiter " and when i got home i decided to actually look up wtf is Amway and found this video along with many first hand accounts with a recruiter of Amway. And some articles, so after all that, I just blocked their number.

I was recruited to Amway back in early 1990s Poland. Luckily it took me only a few months to see through it. The day i knew it was bullshit was when we had a meeting at some long-time member's flat. The lady had been a member of Amway for a few years, but her place was so poor. I thought to myself: How come she's still poor if all you need to do to get rich is to follow the script?

I would just like to say thank you for the work you are doing. I was recently approached by Amway reps and what seemed like a genuine interactions, quickly turned into me realizing that it was all a tactic. I felt completely exploited and there was something in the back of my mind telling me not to continue the interaction but I was reassured that the lack of information given up front about this “mentorship” was because of the quality of information shared that not everyone can have access to. I knew it was something but they made it seem like it was this lucrative community so I guess I had a bad case of FOMO and almost fell into the trap. It was after watching this video that I realized that I should’ve listened to my gut. I’m so glad I didn’t go through it with it, although they sold me a good story.

i was working at a starbucks years ago and was approached by an amway recruiter. i did get his contact info but it was all just talk until i actually got fired from said starbucks. i decided "what the hell" and pursued this 'business opportunity.' cue to me driving 30 min. in traffic to meet up at a random hilton with this guy who still hasn't revealed any pertinent information about the job. he funnels me into the hotel conference hall where there's at least 100 people sitting down getting ready for this "presentation." the hall was mixed with high-up amway ppl, the recruiters themselves, and their recruits - most of whom looked just as bewildered as i was. the presentation started and all i could think was "where the hell have i heard this name amway from" - then it hit me. Penn & Teller used to do a show on Showtime called Bullshit! and their MLM episode heavily featured amway. as the presentation went on, all the memories of that episode came flooding back to me and i felt like such an fucking idiot. i decided to at least wait until the presentation was over so as not to cause a scene. afterwards, i was talking to some of the "new recruits" and thankfully they had also figured out it was all a scam. i feign interest the rest of the time to my recruiter and all the ppl he introduced me to - including one of the presenters. eventually, i leave and end up throwing away all the "materials" i was given - which basically consisted of a few pamphlets and a DVD containing an introductory "course." the recruiter caught on to the fact that i wasn't interested and proceeds to text/call me incessantly for a few days demanding that i at least return the "materials" back to them rightfully - but obviously the guy had no leverage on me so i ignored it and he eventually gave up. to this day, i half-wish i would have kept that DVD so i could look back and laugh/troll at an absolute goldmine of cringe-inducing MLM propaganda. oh well...

Let’s also say how amazingly rude it is to go into one person’s place of business, not purchase anything there since she clearly brought her water and seems to do this on a regular basis, use up their space for as you said about an hour, and then just leave the place of business.

In my last two years of high school, I had a teacher who was very good to me and helped me through some rough times in my life. A couple of months after I graduated and a week before I left for college, her and a friend of her’s came to my house and talked about something and selling and starting a business and that my mom could write things off on her taxes as business expenses. This person gave me some things for college, and over the next three years she became more and more pushy with Amway. Every person I ever introduced her to was a target, and even after I left a part time job, she was visiting and calling them to talk about Amway. Eventually, she stopped returning my phone calls, and vanished off the face of the Earth. After making some other discoveries that were not Amway related, I just stopped trying to contact this person and grew angry about some things.

9:42 when I started at a large insurance company, that’s how the “partners” (AKA glorified recruiters) taught us how to “prospect our natural market”. I remember telling my recruiter those exact words. Everyone’s a mark.

My husband and I were approached years ago, long before we heard of this type of ‘pyramid’. It didn’t feel right. In our experiences over the years, they would get mad and ‘tried’ to make us feel stupid that we weren’t interested.

I'm friends with a guy who joined one of the Globe Life MLMs and is well aware of it being a pyramid scheme. He is just desperate for money, lazy, has lived with his mom his entire life, and lacks much of a moral compass. Even funnier, despite his lack of moral compass and desire to manipulate unaware individuals, he still doesn't realize that he is the one being manipulated and will end up in even more debt. The irony is beautiful.

I’m currently in amway. And finally leaving. My friends got me in it. You start to see everyone as a money sign. You spend so much on your own product to make the PV they want you to be at. You make no money in selling. You can’t advertise what you’re selling so it makes it almost impossible to build a huge clientele. It’s all about recruiting
@BonesMuhroni Жыл бұрын
Amway peeps are also taught to end a conversation were someone isn’t accepting of the business using, “fear of missing out techniques” and such. Funny how she said, “I see value in it, and you don’t.” 🤦♂️
