Something I'm finding helpful lately is to not allow myself to speak unkindly to myself. If I wouldn't say it to a dear friend, I don't say it to myself. It keeps me from beating myself down and helps me to be compassionate and loving in my thoughts etc.. it does make a huge difference in how low I go.

I have a different perspective on this, but this man's advice is golden, it is for everyone. This video ties in with another that Jon recently put out, which was talking about how people don't know how to be together anymore - stuck in their own head because of the age of information - those who know a lot but can't do anything with that knowledge in terms of building any meaningful relationship. What Jon says resonates a lot with schizo's, believe it or not. What sets them apart from us is that they literally hear voices out of their own thoughts so much so that they seem audible within and outside of their mind - what Jon had done was play the true self by just watching the thoughts. This subject matter goes into weird stuff, because it later becomes spiritual as far as what these thoughts are or where they come from. But by looking at it in a basic sense - the true self is the silent one, the one who is discerning between which thoughts to entertain and which ones not to in real time - this is what Jon did by sitting back and just observing. It's basically this: It is we ourselves who have to willingly reach out, grasp, and entertain the thoughts as our own (Lust, hatred, personal gain, sacrifice for praise, entitlement whatever it may be in the moment) when we do it builds a false persona called the ego, the ego judges anything unlike itself while at the same time insists it is an individual, and when no one else is around, it turns inwards and attacks you. I used to be exactly like Jon but perhaps for different reasons - for a very very long time, many years of my life have gone away to it. I drove people away with my negativity, because those thoughts consumed my thought processes and were changing me into something I wasn't. I was contradicting my own self image in a way - that I wanted to be a man who was right and not wrong both morally and spiritually, yet a lot of my desires in life resided in wrong things and not the right ones. Pride and entitlement ensues after contradiction, a cornerstone of the ego. We all have the free will to do as our spirit wishes to do, it is the flesh that is weak and compromised. That's all, Grace and peace be to you all from God our father and our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:18

To recall the common sense found in religions, let us point out that in the Koran, we find similar recommendations. In chapter 'fussilat', we read: 'The good deed and the bad are not the same. Repel evil with what is better; and then the one with whom you had an animosity becomes like a warm friend '.

Depression isn’t merely a medical condition. It’s a legitimate reaction to depressing surroundings. Cities are depressing. Dead end jobs are depressing. Toxic, superficial people are depressing. Nature, and actionable steps towards a self-sufficient life will start you on the right track. An understanding and acceptance of Christ will teach you the forgiveness of yourself and others necessary for true joy.

Thanks Jon, yes observation is key to stopping a lot of suffering, in fact when I have had unbearable pain in the past (I don't like drugs), I have stepped outside of my body and just observed it as an "experience OF the body" and nothing to do with me the observer, it has helped a lot to stop suffering. It's good to see you have discovered sharing the LOVE that IS the Creator is the best cure for bad feelings also - you are truly blessed discovering this yourself, kudos to you.

It will always go away. I don't have the courage yet, quite honestly but little by little, I'm trying my best to get to a point I'm satisfied with

I think you are nice looking. I investigated why I am the way I am. I had a lot of childhood abuse. I never felt loved. Physically I am old. Mentally & emotionally I am about 8 years old. A child hides when afraid. I have PTSD. It is hard when stress shuts me down. I am physically disabled but I have plans to help others. God’s healing power will make me well soon. This long trial will be turned into a blessing. I pray for the people who want to harm me. Revenge would only hurt me.

In Christianity it is said we've all fallen short of the Christ (Jesus - none of us are being THAT good of a person. There are similar sayings in all major religious traditions). It is also said that it is not by works, so, nothing we do is good enough. It takes time to realize that there is no destination, no one is good because their future is not played out completely, they still have the potential to do something wrong or 'evil', there is no final judgement as to whether 100% of their existence 'was' good because they haven't ended yet. Knowing this, it becomes clear that it can only be about a trajectory; have you gotten back up after being knocked down? Have you proven to be the kind of person who learns from mistakes, who struggles to get better, think better, do you really want a better world and life? It's about having a tendency to average toward improvement. Remember, there is no destination. This earth will never roll up onto a beach and we all get off and say ''We've arrived!''. It is endless, start acting like it and stop thinking about end results because there are none. You are not ugly, someone out there thinks you are beautiful and if your trajectory tends upward - more people will see you as beautiful. The happiest time for the angels is said to be when they finally get to say ''Time is no more''. Think about what that means to all of us - no more clocks telling you you're late or that you have to be at X place to save X person or make X thing, laziness and procrastination can't exist in a timeless environment and THAT is more important than things not getting done or made because we've dropped all of our worthless expectations of what value 'can be'. We know what we need but we confuse ourselves with how to get it when we don't realize we already have it. We have ALL fallen short but we, who are not done yet, can still build a better trajectory. If you can't run, walk, if you can't walk, crawl. Crawling is one of the best physical activities ever discovered, it's not just for babies. If you are physically disabled use this as a metaphor for mentally and emotionally crawling. Stay moving, be like nature, don't stop. That crazy stuff that happens out there just happens, THEN we think about it. It would have happened whether we noticed it or not, we have no option but to let it and do what we can. And, once you do something positive, if only in word, others will then say ''That positive thing out there happened, THEN I thought about it''. You can choose to be beautiful and it will be so.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3iqh6xqh9CIqZI Travel like a king, listen to the inner voice A higher wisdom is at work for you Conquering the stumbling blocks, come easier When the conqueror is in tune with the infinite Every ending is a new beginning Life is an endless unfoldment Change your mind and you change Your relation to time You can find the answer The solution lies within the problem The answer is in every question, dig it An attitude is all you need to rise and walk away Inspire yourself, your life is yours It fits you like your skin The oak sleeps in the acorn The giant sequoia tree sleeps in its tiny seed The bird waits in the egg God waits for his unfoldment in man Fly on, children, play on You gravitate to that which you secretly love most You meet in life the exact reproduction of your own thoughts There is no chance, coincidence or accident In a world ruled by law and divine order You rise as high as your dominant aspiration You descend to the level of your lowest concept of yourself Free your mind and your ass will follow The infinite intelligence within you knows the answers Its nature is to respond to your thoughts Be careful of the thought seeds you plant in the garden of your mind For seeds grow after their kind Play on, children Every thought felt as true Or allowed to be accepted as true by your conscious mind Take roots in your subconscious Blossoms sooner or later into an act and bears its own fruit Good thoughts bring forth good fruit Bullshit thoughts rot your meat Think right and you can fly The kingdom of heaven is within Free your mind and your ass will follow Play on, children Sing on, lady, yeah
