Wonderful interview with Jon Jondai, whose message really resonates and whose work is really helping to ensure food security. I was interested to hear him mention the rich corporations (Monsanto, now Bayer) who genetically modified seed for pest resistance, making the seed sterile. So the farmers can’t harvest viable seed for the next season, forcing them to continuously buy expensive GM seed. India has had the same problem and there’s a lady who began a big seed-saving project there too, to break the dependence on GM seed. It’s wonderful to hear a man so dedicated to the welfare of the poor by helping in such practical ways. I hear the teaching of the Buddha through him. Wonderful!

Thank you, Manya! It's true, this is such a big problem that we face globally. The more people that learn about these practices, the better chance we have at healing the damage we have done to this world and ensuring real food security and diversity for the generations to come. It's so good to hear from you. Thank you for watching 🙏 ❤️

Known him from his work since a young man. His Pun Pun Organic Farm and Learning Centre should be read as Pun Phan (พันพรรณ ie, พัน = thounsand, พรรณ= plants) which has a meaning of Thousand varieties of plant.

Quite the interesting interview and perspective. Jon Jondai sounds like a very inspiring person to know and a lot of what he says I think can resonate beyond just farming and seed saving. For example when he mentioned "with no managers or leaders, everyone is a leader" that really resonated with me and I could see it applying to so many facets of life.

Many "developed" countries outlaw this form of living. For example, you can't own land (both because it's too expensive and because even after you "bought" it you still need to pay rent on it). Also, houses construction is strictly regulated thus preventing any communities from building thier own in the way described above.

The Corporations Jon Jandai talk about, Can we say it was Monsanto, Syngenta? Monsanto has since been bought out by Beyer corporation.

Yes, certainly, these are the types of corporations we are talking about. Though I'm not sure specifically which one has the strongest hold on Thailand.

🤣 don't forget "awwhhh" & "ohhh". Sorry, being around alot of Thai people, we tend to take on their frequent use of vocalization of agreement or understanding in conversation with our own English vocalizations.
