I wish my 103 year old Dad had him. He had a cold Indian doctor who treated him like he was old. If she only knew how funny he was. Most doctors and nurses loved him. This Indian doctor killed him. She over medicated him on medicine she was told he was allergic to. Karma will get her. Indians believe in karma. The nurse said Indian doctors become doctors for prestige and the money. She said it’s not about the patients. It was clear she could care less.

Our elders are our most precious treasures. They are full of wisdom and stories of our past and our lives. I adored all of them in my family and I miss them still every day. Spend as much time as you can with them and talk to them. If they're able, take them to lunch, shopping or anywhere they might want to go. It will be a blessing to both of you. The young paramedics were wonderful with her. I'm so glad she didn't have to go to the hospital!

Unfortunately as we can see in the papers today there are ambulance teams giving poor care that results in unnecessary deaths, and falsifying records, aided and encouraged by managers, so that coroners cannot reach proper conclusions. The NHS is not safe or properly run and most of all, not accountable. Meanwhile, the government continues with quietly selling off parts , privatising GP groups covering thousands of patients without consultation. Don’t know what the answer is, but there is a huge , expensive problem and that’s not even thinking about the huge waiting lists with people in serious pain or dying whilst waiting for heart treatment.

In fact, he would often come home late from work due to going to check on his patients in the hospital and listening to all their stories and tales. Unfortunately, a lot of elderly patients just want to have someone pay attention and listen to them. It looks like Winnie has a wonderful family and support system. God bless her and them.

My grandpa was 94, in 2017. He had same issue. He walked without a cane, was eating talking no glasses even. But no teeth only bunch of them, no arthritis or any memories issue. One afternoon went up to go to bathroom, washed hand sat down to eat lunch and suddenly be was gone. It just took him one week, he wasn't done with medicine. Maybe at this age tissue disintegrate faster and organ function gives up. I wish he was here, he loved me like hell. Grandma passed away early in my life he did double time and compensated for that. Still missing him. Five years it would be on 18th May. Just now watching this made him miss more but he was witty and happy. No issues and was strong as hell.

@kcanded
@kcanded 2 жыл бұрын
I think it's a few things: going to the hospital involves a lot of changes. You're not in your own room, lots of people making lots of noise, don't want people making a big fuss, too many strange things. Seeing as it's the UK, she won't need to worry about money, right? That would be a reason for people in the US to not want to go to the hospital.
@leopoldfreiherrvonbernewit4747
@leopoldfreiherrvonbernewit4747 2 жыл бұрын
@@kcanded Almost certainly not the money. But the reluctance to go to a hospital isn’t entirely unfounded. For many elderly going to the ER and then being in the hospital for a short while is actually a major event that can be life-changing. If I had a pound for every time I‘ve heard the sentence „but since they’ve been back from the hospital they haven’t been like before“ in my life, I‘d be a rich man. Simple fractures or minor illnesses can spiral into a big loss in quality of life. Most times not *because* of the hospital, but coincidental to the stay there. And those stories make the rounds among this age group. And in the end one fear often remains: If you go to the hospital, you’re done for - so don’t go.
@junbh2
@junbh2 2 жыл бұрын
@@leopoldfreiherrvonbernewit4747 Yeah, and if they need to be admitted, even a few days of bedrest can often cause a dramatic decline as muscles atrophy so quickly at that age and there are so many complications that can happen. If you notice the doctor they called agreed it would be better for her to stay home if possible.

I take care of two 95 year olds, and though it can be challenging, it is so rewarding! I love them so much! Oh the stories they tell! And yes, every UTI seems to cause confusion!

UTI's can be so difficult. My mother had one UTI after another that utterly excacerbated her dementia even though she was on a constant regime of antibiotics. My neighbour at 65 is in the same situation with UTI's and was to undergo a cystoscopy, but she refused not being able to cope mentally with the examination. She is now taking stronger antibiotics. This lady of 103 is/was truly remarkable.

This used to happen to my dad. He was in his late 80s. The first time it happened with confusion and not knowing what was happening, I thought he had had a stroke. It freaked me out so bad I called EMS. In the hospital they ran test and he had a UTI. He stayed in the hospital almost a week until it was cleared up. I felt so bad for him. God bless this little lady and her family.
