@@tandiparent1906 I knew an elderly man who lost his entire family during the Holocaust. He lost his children and his wife. His brothers and sisters. His entire extended family. He tried to move on afterwards and had married a woman after the war, but she couldn't have children since she was a victim of the Nazis fertility experiments. It was a sad story, but he wasn't alone when he died. He made friends at the care home he lived in and he had the nurses and students that would volunteer. However, you're right... not everyone has people that will be there with them in their final years.

Getting to that age is a blessing and a curse - there is a very strong chance every important person in your life has died. At my old job we had a 106yo regular who would walk to the diner for black coffee and toast every second day - she knew she could make it at home but she just wanted to be around people because she was so lonely. She outlived both her husband, her brother, her daughter, her grandson, all her friends... I can't imagine how soul-crushing that would be.

The lovely ambulance paramedics in this video are a credit to their profession and their parents, especially Mo who gave this lady her place and dignity, washing her face and brushing her hair so gently, it did wonders for this elderly lady..It was lovely to see that these ladies were talked to and not just about, so many think that they lose all hearing and brain and talk about them and not to them. I've worked in many senior places & you'd be saddened & amazed at how many residents don't have family to check on them.. I had 1 resident named Toney & I _absolutely_ loved her & felt like she was kin to me. She didn't have any family or other visitors. She made me laugh & use to make homemade jewelry for me. She had a great sense of life & her wisdom & memory was spot on. I was with her when she passed & held her hand till the end. I miss her greatly.

When I ever have to go to the ER, they tend to not take me seriously...I do not rant, rave, scream, cry....instead I tend to make jokes and get my mind off the pain. Then they notice the increase in blood pressure...and say..mam, are you in pain. And I say...yes, there is the proof..I just don't carry,on about it or act crazy and run my blood pressure any higher.

Ahh this was really cute. I have been blessed to work with many pleasantly confused seniors. They never seemed to have lost their playfulness and they love to laugh and joke . Just taking the time to stop and chat even when it doesn’t make sense can sparkle their day. Just keep focusing on their nonverbal cues. My coworkers and I will often stop and have a dance with them even with no music or dance hall. It brightens their day and may even connect them with an old memory or two. Be the reason someone sparkles. 🥰

It is so lovely the banter and sweetness the medics are allowed to have with patients. In America, you could be fired for sexual harassment for using' sweetheart' or getting a kiss from a patient. Just the 'personal pronoun' stupidity makes a mockery of care. It's revolting the sterility used under the guise of professionalism here.

I work in healthcare in the community and cannot praise paramedics enough, but its got to be about time emergency services are provided with proper moving and handling lifting equipment, an Elk would be so benificial to prevent serious injury to both parties.. Ive seen a lady picked up exactly like this and she was later found to have a broken hip.. Not ideal under arm lifting?!

Not being rude but maybe if they keep letting more and more people in the country no matter for what cause, is just significantly putting more stress on to an already budget cut and stretched out service.

I see your point, but, It's not just people coming into thr Country, I read the other day of a British couple that had twenty Children and wanted more. They had decent jobs and the kids are well looked after, but they are all going to need school; places, doctors, jobs, houses, and probably drive cars. In this day and age that many children , native born or immigrant is not something to be proud of.
@shelleyphilcox4743
@shelleyphilcox4743 2 жыл бұрын
@@maxthecat14 Quite a lot of people arent having children, or just one. That is a big burden on the next generation to be productive enough to support not just themselves, but their own child plus lots of older people who will need an awful lot of help and support and medical care. The family that had 20 kids has provided additional economic units that will be the ones that supplement the old age needs of those that didnt have children, or just one or two. So...it really depends on how you look at it.
@maxthecat14
@maxthecat14 2 жыл бұрын
@@shelleyphilcox4743 Well i look at it as twenty being far too many. Tht's twenty more cars on the road in just one area, where will they park? Had to laugh at yo calling them " Economic units" sounds like something out of a sci fi film.
@shelleyphilcox4743
@shelleyphilcox4743 2 жыл бұрын
@@maxthecat14 People are production and consumption units in an economy. You might feel that is an inhumane or dystopian description of human beings and family units, but I'm afraid in economic terms, humans are economic units. If you under produce the next generation, they will be crushed under the weight of the burden. You need to produce just enough to be able to carry on supporting unproductive units without a detriment to quality of life for each generation. Bear in mind we have an increasingly short productive life. We go into productive work later and later, 21 or so rather than 14/15 as it was in my parents and grandparents time, staying in education for longer periods and although the retirement age has risen a bit, in reality the average age of death has gone up and complex health needs have gone up. People used to get about 5 years of retirement, if they were lucky, medical treatments were less sophisticated, and you died younger. Now people have 20 years or more of retirement, and require hospital treatments, and high level care, as they are still alive but unable to live safely and independently. That's a big squeeze on the shrinking section of society that are working and generating the wealth on which absolutely everything depends.
