I just had an insane maze idea: You have 3d maze (with stairs). But what the players don't know is that in the area below the ground the mazes of the two players are interconnected so they are actually in the same maze and the exit they have to find was the entrance of the other player. To avoid players going back to their own entrance (and to make the maze more exciting) Players start with a duck they have to insert into a sensor with the same colour. When they do insert the duck the maze changes (closing off the entrance with the first duck) and gives you access to a different coloured duck (once you take the duck the access to the sensor gets blocked off to avoid putting the duck back, but gets opened up again once you are one the next colour). To give it a little bit of extra style the ducks can be made in a way that the player ends up putting back the ducks where the other player had removed them from ending with the other players initial duck that had initially closed the other players entrance (but make the coloured ducks right in the middle of that (but make an emergancy sensor entrance opening or something like that in case both colours next to each other end up being locked due to the players metting in the middle)

Sounds complex. Just have them look for the exit, which is the same color as the wall opposite the entrance. Then have the colors correspond.

Could be a fun concept for a maze, that you have to go back through the same section, but maybe with some of the walls having changed, to add to the confusion :P
@bungeetoons9 ай бұрын
I think a way to add more than 3 minutes would have been to make the last section a reverse inverted maze. Which I think could be done by rotating the maze 180degrees after reverse, then just switch the glass and floor blocks.
@mherrmann816879 ай бұрын
@@bungeetoons during his initial explanation, he said he "flipped it and reversed it", so I thought he had done just that... but later realized he had only spun it around backwards 😂

Probably the best advice I could give you is don't make a maze gimmick dependent. By that, I mean don't make it so that progression in the maze is reliant on the runners finding the one key item that'll let them do the specific thing that needs to be done when the timer is in between 10 and 16 seconds of a minute and can't be done past 6 minutes and they have to have exactly 3 ducks of different shades of the same color otherwise the pathway closes on them. You get what I'm saying? You had that thing where you've already pointed out the flaw. If you ever have to say in your explanation, "Hopefully they will ____. . . . in order to then _____." you've already made a gimmick dependent puzzle. A good puzzle gimmick should be something that needs to be discovered on their own, but is readily available at the beginning. If you hide a switch that opens a path at the beginning, it sets the precedent that progression from there on out will be hidden switch dependent. Going for the memory maze was good, but the way to get to the reverse maze broke the the flow of it all. Quite honestly, if you wanted to be cruel to them you could build a hidden switch maze where the pathway opens up, but it'll be on the opposite side of the maze. Like bits of the maze all open up at once, but the path forward is a corridor that's blocked (kind of like how Scrapman's was) but the trigger is a switch on the opposite end of the maze. Then the next switch might be also near by the entrance corner or something, so on and so forth. You could hide the exit switch on a reasonable timed switch near the entrance. Like it'll be something on a timer of like 20 seconds (long enough for them to navigate through with a few mistakes) but not long enough for them to flip it at the beginning and for it to still be open for them as they stumble through after 5-13 minutes.

A good variation on your idea would be to remove the walls and used triggered pitfalls in their place. It rewards remembering the path while allowing for a trial and error solution. Invisible walls are another variation.
@saumanahaii9 ай бұрын
Here's an idea for next time: a fairly big one, but you start on an elevator that lowers you down into the maze, giving you time to solve it from above. You also get a spudgun and there's breakable blocks on the top for you to shoot, letting you mark a path you can follow when you get inside. But: both players share the same platform, so you can shoot your opponent's maze too! Maybe make the elevator narrow but wide and have the mazes on either side so hitting your opponent's maze is as simple as turning around.

I recommend always tracing every possible route through your maze to make sure there's only one path through. Just take a screen shot and draw all over it in paint
@azman12719 ай бұрын
I also feel that this maze should been smaller as if you have too big of a maze, it would allow them to peak the maze (as in allowing them to see corner better, making them not go down that path)

Since you asked for feedback. I am not a game designer, but I dont think it was a good idea to try and get people to follow your floor directions, and then expect them to randomly not follow your direction at one intersection, and then in-theory punish them for not not following your directions at the beginning of the maze by making the end a dead end. Following your directions should of been reinforced and rewarded by getting the chest.

Make the corridors less open that way it feels more like a maze plus you can "fit" more maze in the same area. Also should have made the button the other way around so if you shoot it you get a shorter path. Great job and hope to see something even better next time.😁

Make a maze where the opponents have to build a specific contraption to e.g. cross a gap or remotely activate something while waiting around a corner for a door to open. Maybe you could also give them a few items of your choosing to help them a little bit. I really hope you see this Kosmo!

What about a maze where the end closes a set time after you start. To reset it, you have to go to the start again. The door at the end would be visible even when closed to make them know there's something going on there, but they have to figure out that they have to speedrun the maze.
